Setting Up HR from Scratch in a 20-Year-Old Manufacturing Firm: Where Do I Start?

I have been assigned the task of setting up an HR Department in a company which has been running for 20 years. They do not have any HR right now. Can anyone please suggest how to go about the process? It is a manufacturing company that specializes in process control instruments. I have to design the HR policies for the same.

I had the privilege to design and implement HR policies for my last organization. However, there was a difference in that they already had an HR department and policies in place. I had to redesign them according to the current needs.

You can start with procedural documentation of each and every process linked with HR such as recruitment, training and development, performance management, leave and attendance, onboarding, and more. This will provide a foundation for further improvements. If you encounter any problems, I will be glad to help.
