Is the Shops and Establishments Act Required for New Branches in Jammu and Kashmir?

I am working in an NBFC, and we are planning to open a few branches in Jammu and Kashmir. Could you please confirm whether the Shops and Establishments Act is applicable in Jammu and Kashmir or not?

Every state has a different Shops and Establishment Act (though most are similar, they vary by state). In India, most laws are applicable, except in Jammu and Kashmir, where they need to be signed for applicability. Therefore, first, you should verify if Jammu and Kashmir is covered under the Shops and Establishment Act.

If it falls under the Shops and Establishment Act, then you must register under this act.

The Shops and Establishment Act is applicable in Jammu & Kashmir. So, go for the S & E Registration to avoid a penalty.
