Is Proof of Wage Payment Necessary for Contractual Employees? Seeking Guidance on Required Documents

jagdish.pathak
Dear Friends,

Please guide us on whether "Proof of wage payment for contractual employees" is required by the principal employer. Currently, we are considering the following documents for the payment process from the vendor:

1) PF challan
2) ESIC challan
3) PF calculation sheet
4) ESIC calculation sheet
5) Labour welfare fund details (if any)
6) Fulfill the wages as per the Minimum Wages Act.
7) Declaration for PF and ESIC depository details.
8) Attendance sheet.

Also, please let us know if any further documents should be collected from the vendor related to the wages.

Thanks,

Proof of wage payment can be a wage or salary sheet on which employees sign for receiving the payments. It may be computerized or registered in Form XIII as per the Shops & Establishments Act.

Even if the salary is transferred through a salary account, the vendor has to maintain a wages register in hard copy as per the Shops and Establishments Act.

According to the Contract Labour Act, a representative of the principal employer should be present at the time of disbursement of the wages of contractual employees.
