How Can We Plan a Budget-Friendly Diwali Celebration for All Office Locations?

Dear All,

Can you please suggest some ideas for a low-cost Diwali celebration at the office? What can be done for employees who are in other branch locations? :p

Hello Aishu,

Could you please provide information on the industry-specific strengths of employees, budget frame, etc... :)

Hi Aishu,

Cost is always a constraint. You can take a nominal contribution of Rs. 25/50/100 depending upon the employee strength and capability. Also, you can pull in some from management. We celebrated a wonderful foundation day with 10000 (number of employees were around 50). We arranged a collage competition, best-dressed male/female, and provided snacks and refreshments. You can also organize a talent hunt, fish pond, rangoli competition, etc., which will cost you less. Giving small tokens like mugs as prizes is a great idea.

For other branches, you can arrange a surprise cake from Monginis or the local cake shops. I am sure you can organize a low-cost Diwali celebration if the spirits are high.

Subject: Diwali Greetings for All Employees

Dear Team,

I hope this email finds you well. I wanted to take this opportunity to wish all of you a very Happy Diwali!

Diwali is a time for joy, celebration, and togetherness. It is a festival that symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. Let us all come together to celebrate this auspicious occasion with enthusiasm and positivity.

As we rejoice in the festivities, let us also remember the true spirit of Diwali - spreading happiness, sharing moments of laughter, and embracing the warmth of our relationships. May this Diwali bring prosperity and success to each one of you.

Wishing you and your loved ones a Diwali filled with love, light, and laughter.

Warm regards

Dear all,

You can try any of these:

1. Greetings to all Employees & Family.
2. Drawing Competition for Employees' Children (2-3 Age Group). First and Second Prizes (100/- and 75/- gifts).
3. For Employees - Safety Awareness Quiz/Articles. Again, First and Second Prizes.
4. (If offsite) - Antakshari/Musical Chair for Ladies.

All the Best, Happy Diwali.

Arrange a Multi-Cuisine Get-Together cum Lunch and inform all employees to bring their lunch boxes to share with all other employees. Keep prizes for the best food, best dressed, and best-mannered employees by a voting system, and publicly honor the first two winners by gifting them a box of toffees or sweets (if the same is gifted by some of your clients). Announce that the top management will also participate in this celebration. Inspire your CEO to give a lecture on the adverse effects of adulterated junk food on people's health. Convince your employees of how much the management is concerned about their health. Also, advocate the benefits of such gatherings as they increase love, understanding among employees, and promote company culture. Decorate the company hall with a few candles and balloons. I believe this will help minimize the cost of Diwali celebrations in your office.

You can try:

(i) Floor/Bay Decoration competition
(ii) Rangoli Competition
(iii) Ethnic dress competition - prize for best-dressed male & female
(iv) Some games - candle lighting, etc.
(v) Skit on a topic related to Diwali prepared by different teams & award the best one.
(vi) Diya/Matka decoration - provide paint & stuff to participants

Hope it helps!!

Hi,

Just go for Diwali mela where you have to arrange for the space. You have to coordinate with some dealers to fix the counters, etc. Simple, add some games and chat stalls. People will love it, trust me.

Dear Aishu,

My friends have already given you a lot of suggestions in this post. Please also consider the branch employees for Diwali celebration. We will organize lots of puzzle games through email. Each early bird with the correct answer will receive prizes/gifts through the local branch.

Rahul

Hi all,

Thank you for sharing wonderful ideas. My budget is approximately 20/- per head with around 400 employees across different branches in the insurance industry.

Hi Aishwarya,

As the budget is ₹8000 and employees are in different locations, sending an email game, puzzle, along with Diwali greetings through email, and distributing sweets locally or giving out prizes/gifts is possible.

Rahul

Hi,

You may go ahead and arrange for a "Tambola" game. It will cost less as you can purchase Tambola tickets from markets for just Rs 65 at least. Then, you can give items like mugs, photo frames. Additionally, you can arrange for one lucky draw and give away a prize of any utility item for approximately Rs 450-500. Bay decoration competition, Rangoli, and ethnic dress codes are other ideas to consider.
