Can you help me with what the rate is to deduct professional tax from an employee's salary in the Maharashtra region? What is the range, and does it have to be deducted from Basic salary + D.A.? Am I right?
Please find the revised Professional Tax for Maharashtra.
This is to inform you that the monthly slab of Professional Tax for salaried persons has been revised with effect from 1st July 2009 as mentioned below:
1. Salary below Rs 5,000/-: Nil.
2. Salary from Rs 5,001 to Rs 10,000/-: Rs 175.
3. Salary above Rs 10,001/-: Rs. 200.
3.1) Rs 200/- per month except for the month of February.
3.2) Rs 300/- for the month of February.
Firstly, Professional Tax is deducted from the GROSS SALARY, not from BASIC + DA. According to the latest amendment, Gross salary up to Rs. 5000-00 is tax-exempt.
Attached is the latest amendment for your clear understanding. I hope this information proves helpful to you.
I want to know if there is any professional tax for Delhi NCR. Please give me details.
Regards,
Suman
