Hi, I'm an MBA first-year student. I want to specialize in HR. I am pursuing my MBA in my hometown due to some personal issues. Although the college is considered the best management institute in the city, only 10% of HR students were placed according to the placement record. Unfortunately, I have no other choice but to attend this college. Therefore, my question is: What can I do to be among those 10% of successful students?

Should I consider taking additional courses alongside my MBA to enhance my profile? What about HRD? I have come across the basic distinction between HRD and HRM here, but I am having trouble making a decision.

Should I explore other fields such as marketing or finance?

Please advise me on what steps I should take. If you suggest against exploring other fields, kindly guide me on how to approach my studies, recommend books for reference, and outline a suitable strategy.

In the present competitive world, every student is expected to have better exposure along with some basic theoretical knowledge. Industries have certain assignments for which they don't want to spend time and a huge amount of money. If we can bring these two things together, everyone will benefit. Take that type of assignment and give it to students to complete under some expert guidance. For example, almost all companies love to do some campaigns like road shows, melas, etc. Take charge and make students organize that effectively.
