Should We Issue a Residency Letter for a PAN Card Without Legal Risks? Seeking Advice

sharmaneesu
Dear All,

One of our female employees recently got married, resulting in a change in her surname. She currently does not possess her marriage certificate or any form of identity proof.

She has applied for a PAN Card, and the authorities are requesting a company statement on official letterhead confirming her residency at the specified address for the specified period.

My question is whether we should issue such a letter to her. If so, what potential legal consequences might we face in doing so? Additionally, is there a specific format we should adhere to in order to mitigate any risks?

Please assist me with this matter.

Thank you.

She doesn't have a voter ID card, and the gas bill is in her husband's name. The main problem is the change in her surname.

Ask her to make an affidavit stating the facts and information required and get it affirmed before the first-class magistrate.

You can obtain a request letter from her and give a letter as follows:

To whomsoever it may concern,

This is to certify that Miss/Mrs. [Name] is working in our organization. As per records, her residential address is as follows:
[Address Line 1]
[Address Line 2]
[City, State, Zip Code]

This letter is issued at the request of the employee for obtaining a PAN card for [purpose].

Thank you.
