Is a Signed Copy of Termination Notice Essential for Every Employee Exit?

sharmaneesu
Dear Seniors,

Can you please guide me on the given matter: do we need to have a receiving copy of the notice duly signed by the employee in the case of notice of discontinuation of services? Is it necessary for each termination/discontinuation?

Waiting for an early response.

Dear Nishu,

It is always good to keep a record of the letters/notices given to the employees after getting them signed by the employee. This way, you have proof that the employee accepted it on a particular date.

Normally, this is done to avoid any false legal consequences that the employee can file against the employer, making excuses such as the company not providing a notice period, etc.

You must keep a photocopy or proof of acceptance of every important document that you give to the employee. This also helps in maintaining employee files.

Thanks, Vineet
