Confused About Diesel Tank Rules Under Factories Act? Need Clarity on Underground Requirement

This is Reshma from Mumbai, and I would like to know about the rules for the construction of a diesel tank at the factory location under the Factories Act. One of the consultants has stated that it should be underground. Is it compulsory under the Factories Act? I am a bit confused. Please help me out at the earliest.

Dear Reshma,

If it exceeds a certain capacity, you need to be compliant under the Explosives Act as well.

Must you also check the Explosives Act?

It should be underground, and if the capacity is more than four thousand liters, then you have to take a license under the Explosives Act, which you will get from Nagpur.
