Facing Job Hunt Challenges After Layoff: How Can I Overcome These Obstacles?

I am Sundar. I have finished my MBA in HR and have over 3 years of working experience in the HR domain, including 2.5 years in recruitment and 6 months in HR generalist roles. Unfortunately, I recently lost my job due to poor performance, and I was asked to resign immediately. Currently, I am unemployed, and my previous company did not provide me with an offer letter or appointment letter for the last 5 months. Finally, they issued an appointment letter but instructed me to resign without paying my salary for the last 2 months.

I am facing challenges in finding new job opportunities due to the ongoing recession. Employers have rejected me in interviews citing my short tenure of 6 months in the previous company and the lack of a relieving letter from my last employer, where I worked as a generalist HR.

I am in a critical situation and seek guidance on how to overcome these obstacles and succeed in interviews. Your advice and support would be greatly appreciated.

Don't panic in this situation. How did you work without an offer letter and salary? Anyway, stay positive and take it as a learning point. Surely, you will get a good opportunity.

I had worked in a company for 3 months, and they asked me to resign on the basis of non-performance. I felt very bad and didn't know where I went wrong. Now, I am working as an HR Manager in a company and handling 7 branches. I am doing the same work, with more responsibility and a higher volume. I was working as an assistant, and now I work as the only person in HR with the title of Manager.

I have made improvements by identifying weak areas and working on them. Within this year, I have learned a lot. Despite facing rejection, with the right attitude, one can be very successful as a Generalist HR Professional.

Thank you for your valuable inputs. Please let me know how to answer in an interview if the interviewer asks why you resigned from your previous job at your previous company very shortly. Moreover, nowadays, I am not receiving any calls from companies or consultancies. Is this due to the recession or were my profile rejected? Can I mention my previous work experience at my previous company on my resume, even though I worked there for a short time?
