Worried About Future Risks After Leaving Tata BPO Due to Health Issues?

My friend was an employee at Tata Business Service Solutions, previously called Servizsol, a BPO in Hyderabad, during the period between January and May 2008. He absconded from the company due to health issues and received a letter from the company stating that his contract has been terminated. There wasn't any bond between him and the company. So, is his future at any risk now?

Dear Abhinav,

Your friend absconded from his job in early 2008 and received a termination letter. He cannot rejoin that organization as he does not have a relieving letter. If he includes that experience on his resume and HR asks for a relieving letter, what should he do? I don't think there is any legal risk (assuming your friend has no pending dues or has not received any other letters).

It would have been better if your friend had resigned.

Hello, my friend doesn't want to join that organization. He has completed his MBA now and is applying as a fresher. There are no dues against him in that organization, and the letter of termination of the contract was the last letter he had received. Will there be any problem in starting a new career as a fresher?

There is absolutely no risk for your friend to join a new company without showing any experience he gained at Tata. If he includes this experience on his resume and is selected, there is a risk if the employer conducts an inquiry with Tata. Therefore, advise him not to include any Tata experience in the resume he submits for a new job application.

When an employee is terminated by a company, it is a significant punishment and marks the end of the employer-employee relationship.

The word "absconded" was used by whom? Did the company use the word in the termination letter? If so, then you must realize that the word "absconder" has a stigma akin to a "deserter" in the Armed forces. Please be aware of this fact.
