Struggling to Get My Final Settlement After Resignation – How Can I Recover My Dues?

Naina Watsa
Hi all,

I was previously employed with an organization and served them for over 6 years. I resigned in March 2002 after giving proper notice and also have the relieving letter. The final settlement, including Gratuity, was pending, and they said it would be done shortly. To date, the settlement is pending, and they have still not given me a clear indication of when my dues will be settled. I used to have a good rapport with the Chairman, who is based in the US, and have been in constant touch with him too. However, all this is leading me nowhere, and all I get to hear each time I call is that there is a financial crunch.

How do I recover my money?

Have you claimed your gratuity as per the law? Gratuity should be paid within 1 week of your claim. Therefore, you now need to inform the HR department of your previous company that you will file a complaint against them if they do not pay the gratuity amount.
