I am Jithender Reddy, a student of MBA. I am working on a project on the topic "Why do people change jobs?" I have already identified some reasons through a review of the literature. I would appreciate it if you could share some additional reasons on this topic. I am initiating a discussion in this forum, so please feel free to post your valuable insights here.

I hope the major reason has already been provided by Mr. Yashswa. The rest are as follows:

Ladies mostly change their jobs for the following reasons:
1. Due to getting married recently, they relocate to the city where their husbands work.
2. To find a job nearby their home to better manage their family & children.
3. To have a better and more peaceful environment.

I would also like to know what you have found as the major reason in your project. Please share that with us.

From my end, I have already identified some reasons through a review of the literature. I would like to explore more reasons for this. I am presenting this for discussion in this forum.

I am glad that the project you have chosen is the one that is most relevant to the current prevailing conditions in the market, whether in IT or non-IT firms.

I basically feel there are two broad categories for people changing jobs:

1. Internal Circumstances (present working company, its policies, procedures, payments, culture, growth, individual welfare, family prospects, etc.).
2. External Circumstances (friends' working experiences, new company establishments, industry hype creations, peer advice and push, etc.).

This is something that I can share with you.

Thank you for your response. Until now, I have identified some reasons for that. I am happy to see that you have provided some new perspectives on the matter. I have already gathered many reasons, and I will share them in this forum after collecting the maximum possible.

Hi,

There are many reasons people change jobs:

1) Salary - If there is no increment.
2) Not able to cope up with people around, especially with the Boss.
3) Different area of interest (For example: If somebody is working in Marketing and not enjoying the work, they may think of a job change. The person feels while working that he/she is more suitable or interested in HR or Finance).
4) Personal family problems.
5) Health problems.

There are many reasons why people change their jobs, but if employees feel that the atmosphere is good in the company and if there are regular performance appraisals, the attrition rate can be minimized. We are all human beings; we all want comfort and a sense of belonging in the workplace too.
