Starting an HR Club at My Institute: What Activities Would You Suggest?

Ashley
Hi All,

I am a student in HR and have decided to start an HR Club at my institute. I have framed a formal structure for the club and would like to receive more input from your side regarding the activities that can be conducted.

Thanks and regards,
Ashley

Hi Ashley,

That is a good gesture of yours. You can have seminars/paper presentations by students with HR fraternity chairing it or as panelists and speakers. You can form a network of HR personnel and organize monthly guest speakers, inviting other college students as well. Ensure that you have one creative activity every month under the HR club and invite HR professionals. Try to organize industrial visits for your college and other students. Also, try to volunteer during walk-ins conducted in and around your city.

All the Best!!

Good morning all,

I am glad to inform you all that we will be organizing an HR Conclave in our college on 12 December. The event will have two sessions: 9:00 am - 11:30 am and 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm. The discussions will revolve around contemporary trends in Human Resource Management.

Dear colleagues, I kindly request your presence if you are available and interested. Your participation will be highly appreciated.

I look forward to a positive response.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi Ashley,

That's a great opinion. You have to be very energetic and consistent to make this a success. Firstly, tell students to become members of the club and think of a good name. Make a yearly budget for your club, keeping in mind the events you would be conducting in a year (include cash prizes to attract the students). Additionally, you can ask the management to provide you with an hour or two free for that activity.

Events such as extempores, debates on a smaller scale, and HR Conclave on a large scale should be targeted towards attractive brands in that conclave to attract students. This can also be helpful for placements in the near future. Seek support from the HR faculty as they are usually not supportive. Establish an advisory body as you alone cannot manage all of this.

It's not a difficult task at all. Give it your best shot! Best of luck! I hope this email will be helpful. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

May I know which institute you are from?

Dear all,

I have been tasked with forming an HR Club consisting of industrial HR experts. I work for a non-profit organization and would appreciate your advice on how I should establish this club and the framework to follow.

Many thanks,
A
