Notice Period Dilemma: Does Taking Sick Leave Extend Your Last Days at Work?

While serving the notice period, if a person falls sick and takes sick leave, will the notice period be extended? If the person has sufficient leave balance (both sick and privilege leave)?

Sick leaves supported by valid medical certificates are genuine documents for an employee to avail leave. Therefore, there is no legality in extending the notice period if an employee falls sick during his notice period. However, depending upon the policy of the company, leaves for other reasons may not be allowed.
