Dear All,
In our company, we have scanned the "Combined Challan of A/C No. 1, 2, 10, 21 & 22" original form and placed it in Excel. Our payroll program accesses the Excel and fills up the required details in the form. We have been doing this for the past 2 years without any hassles. However, last month, our challans were returned by SBI, Adyar branch, stating that henceforth only colored challans are accepted and not neat white papers.
I inquired at the PF Office, and they mentioned that they are still accepting white challans and have not instructed the bank to stop it. Despite this, the SBI personnel flatly refuse to hear anything or accept white challans. The colored challans cannot be automated due to their thinness. It seems quite silly to ask us to revert to the stone ages.
Please advise.
