Confusion In Career Options, HR Or Finance?

Nisha27882
HI All,

I am working in a UK based BPO as an HR Executive. I have done my M.Com as regular student, and just started my MBA from SCDL in HR specialization. Today is the last day for me to change my specialization, I am really confused between the HR and Finance Specialization. I have interest in HR side, But want to keep my options open in the Finance sector as well, Because i am doubtful about HR prospects in US or any other country being an Indian. Because i doubt to manage the people in US or UK, the companies might not recruit INdian to understand and manage them. so for that reason i am planning to keep Finance as an option eventhough having an Interest in HR side . Can anybody suggest me, what are the prospects in HR side, Or else I should change it to Finance side.

Can also anybody suggest, if i do MBA IN Finance, and also do some DIploma in HR , will it be possible that i can get the jobs in HR, if i will not be so successfull in FInance????

Please help as today is the last date for the submission.

Hi nisha,
Its totally upto you. First decide where you want to be. Then decide how to go about it.As far as HR is concerned its creating new dimensions everyday. So take a call. Later do not repent..

Hi Nisha,
I think you shld go for Finance as a career, because as a HR guy, you have to understand culture and attitude of people. As a foreigner it will be a difficult for you.
As it is finance is accepted everywhere in the world, and it is always in demand.

Hi Nisha,
It is indeed a tough call. And analyzing your points I think you should start with Finance and after you establish your self in the Company you will be able to lean more about the organization, people, culture etc.
Meanwhile don’t let your HR side drift. Follow some courses, take up a diploma. Once you are a established person in your organization if you feel necessary and you are capable then you can shift your career. And the chances are you will be well accepted by all by that time.
Anyway it is just my view and the choices are all yours. Do what you like best. What ever you do, make sure you enjoy what you are doing.
Cheers,
Ashra

Hi Nisha,
I read your mail about HR and Finance Specialization confusion. I will suggest to find out whether there are opportunities for major and minor option. If yes, then do major in HR and Minor in Finance. It will keep both the option open.
Otherwise, you can specialize in Finance and can take a diploma in HR.

HI ,
I have a option to choose Major and Minor Option too. As i can do Dual Specialization, IN which I can consider one as Primary and after completing the primary specialization, secondary should be completed. And also if i am not able to do the other specialization, then I wil have to inform the College in 4th semester, for my cancellation of Secondary specialization. But in this case., there will no refund of my secondary semmester feees. So I am not sure can i take a chance?
The last date is 10th of December, to choose dual specialization.
