Black and white are not colors. If an object looks black, it means it absorbs all colors in light, and if an object looks white, it means it reflects all colors in light. Red, green, and blue are called primary colors and the basis for the formation of all colors. Hope this answers your question.

Arre yaar... Kya B&W ke chakkar mein pade ho... Color TV means it has all colors, not just two specific colors. B&W means only two colors are present, so when specifying them, it is called a B&W TV.

A simple thought! The reason may be that in Black and White TV, only two colors were relayed, so it is easy to say black & white! Whereas, in color TV, so many colors are transmitted, and hence we cannot mention all the color names, and so a common name - Color TV!!! 😎😎😎

- green + red =
- red + blue =
But black + white always results in black.

White is made of a mixture of seven colors, and black absorbs all colors. Therefore, in the end, no color is transmitted on TV. So, black and white are not colors on TV.

Hi Malini,

Black & white TV is so called because they can only project two colors and their combinations (such as ash and gray) and are thus named. A color TV is called colored as it can project all combinations of all colors visible to our eye. Additionally, it is nowhere mentioned that a black & white TV is a non-color TV.

Old is gold, chalta rahega. Black means no colour white represents all in one. So, a single colour alone cannot compete with multiple colours.

Technically, black is a color. It is all the colors mixed together; however, white is not a color because it is the absence of color. Therefore, since white is not a color, black and white are not colors.
