Worried About Missing Experience Letters? How to Handle Future Job Applications

Hi all,

I am working in a software company. I joined this company 4 months ago. I have not submitted my experience letter and relieving letter from my previous company. In my old company, I was on a contract which I broke. The new company accepted me without requiring the experience or relieving letter.

I am concerned about the future when I may join another company. If they ask for all my previous company's experience letters, what should I say? Please advise me on this matter. Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

You must take you're experience letter from any company you work for and you have the right on that if you work with them more than 3 months,
Because no company will give you one month experience and you can't add it in your CV, it will lead to doubts and questions in your CV.

If you're current company did not ask you for experience letter , so just don't bring it ,

Don't take unnecessary tension; it happens with many. In your last company, as you said, it was on a contractual basis. In that case, you can show your existing company that they have refused to provide a reference. Furthermore, always remember that if you break contracts, it will harm your future because you may not be able to get a reference from that company.

Always remember, when leaving any company, please do so on a positive note. Despite any grievances you may have, please don't sour your relationship with your company as you never know who could be your referee.

If you don't have an experience letter, you can provide names and contact numbers for references as that is enough to prove your experience.

Thank you for your response. I am really feeling well. I have changed companies three times and am currently working in my fourth company. During my joining at the fourth company, they did not require an experience letter from my previous job as I was on contract at the third company, and therefore, did not receive an experience letter. The current company where I am working also did not ask for an experience letter.

In the future, if I join another company and they request an experience letter from my third company, what should I say? Can I provide the contact information of the project manager or team lead from the third company for reference checks? Or should I proactively disclose before joining any new company that I do not have an experience letter from my third company? Please advise.

As per my knowledge, any company will give you the experience letter even if you have worked on a contract basis. It is up to the company and your discussion during joining. If you break the contract, they may refuse to provide the same. Therefore, make sure to secure the experience letter henceforth. Good luck.

In case you are in the IT field, your future employer might ask you for experience letters from your past three employers. The background verification process is very strict and stringent in IT companies, so it is always better to have them ready. You can initiate a discussion with your previous employer and arrange for the experience certificate.
