Can I Withdraw My Husband's PF While He's Abroad? Seeking Guidance on Required Documents

sarachandra
Hello All,

My husband is working in the US right now (for the past 2 years). Before that, he was working in India, and when he resigned from the company, he didn't claim the PF amount. Now, he would like to withdraw the PF amount. Right now, I am (his wife) in India, and I have the Form 19 and 10C signed by him.

My query is:

1) Can I apply for PF withdrawal on his behalf (since he is in the US)?
2) What are the documents required for the PF withdrawal?

Please help us.

Thank you,
Saraswati

Dear Saraswati Ji,

Please clarify the status of the declaration form, Form No. 2. If you are a nominee in this form, you can't withdraw his PF. However, if you fill the application with the signature of your husband, then you can follow up.

Thank you,
Sushil Kumar

Hi Saraswathi Ji,

He worked in India. If you have the signed forms of 19 and 10c, you can claim the amount, but not in your name.

Requirements:
1) Bank passbook photocopy.
2) If he is settled in the US, provide related documents (copy of his visa) for reference only.
3) Form 3A

The documents required are mentioned below:

1. A valid bank account
2. Bank statement/bank passbook photocopy
3. A cancelled cheque of the savings account of your husband
4. Form 10C and 19 signed by your husband

Just submit these documents to the PF office, and your money will be transferred in 2-3 months.

PF Withdrawal Name Discrepancy

I was working in Chhattisgarh (M/S Vijay Transmission Ltd) in 2010. In that organization, my name is on the PF Account as "Mr. Rajendra Bandu Kumbhkar," but my actual name is "Mr. Rajendra Bandu Kumbhar."

The problem is that due to a mistake in the name, the PF cheque will be drawn in the wrong name, but the bank account is under the correct name. Please give suggestions on how to withdraw my PF with the correct name.

With best regards,
Rajendra Kumbhar.

There is a very long procedure if you go by law. I am suggesting a few alternatives; if some of those are possible for you:

1. Try to open a bank account in any private bank like ICICI/HDFC, etc., with your name as Mr. Rajendra Bandu Kumbhkar. Your previous office ID card will be considered as the ID proof. Then you can withdraw the money in that account. Close that account after your money is credited into it.

2. Option 2 is to go and meet the PRO of the PF office. He might help you, but it will be a long procedure as you have to declare that Rajendra Bandu Kumbhkar and Rajendra Bandu Kumbhar are the same person. For that, you have to prepare an affidavit and submit it to the PF office.
