Frustrated with a 5-Year Delay in PF Claim Processing – How Long Should I Wait?

Hi there,

My PF account number is DL/934792/16. The PF claim form was submitted by my previous company only in January 2009. It's been more than 5.5 years since the submission of the claim, but to date, I haven't received the money, and the site is showing that the claim has not been received by them. :(

I received the status from my previous company in March, stating that the claim is under process, but I still haven't received the claim. I just want to check how much time the government will take to clear the claim.

I have received an acknowledgment from the company stating that they submitted the form on January 20, 2009. I would like to inquire about the duration the government usually takes to release the amount.

Dear Iqbal,

In that case, you should contact the PF office personally for your acknowledgment. It should not take more than 45 days to settle your PF account.

Hi, this is Venkat. If your bank account is in the same city, the claim will be processed within 15 days after submitting it to the PF office. Otherwise, it may take up to 30 days.

You can visit the PF office for further inquiries.

I'm regularly talking to the account guy from my previous company, and he updated me a long time back (around 1.5 months ago) with the current status in a scanned document that it's "under process." I don't know why government officers are taking so much time to transfer the amount.

I had submitted my PF withdrawal form in my previous company in March 2009, and now I want to change the bank account number I had provided in the form urgently. However, as per the HR personnel of the company, he has not yet received the acknowledgment of the submission of my form, and he is saying that I cannot change the details now. Please suggest what to do as I do not want that money to be transferred to that account. Is there any other way out, or can I get cash delivery of the same? Please suggest what to do.

You should file an application under the Right to Information Act, stating how much time is supposed to be taken by the PF authorities to process the PF amount. Based on this reply, you can issue a notice in the name of PF Commissioner. In the meantime, you will enjoy the rate of interest of 8.5% p.a., which is supposed to be the best investment in today's time.

If you have an acknowledgment and are not receiving the PF, then you have to personally go to the PF office situated at Wazirpur Industrial Area and meet the P.R.O (Public Relations Officer). She is a nice lady and she will definitely help you. The department is liable to provide you with the status or reason for the delay in PF.

You have to submit an ASR form (Advanced Stamped Receipt) to the concerned PF office along with an application and a new bank account passbook/statement copy in which you want to receive your PF amount. This information can be changed at any time.

P. F. has to be settled within 30 days from the date of submission of the claim before the P. F. Authority. In your case, it has exceeded the period. Please meet personally with the APFC or RPFC as the case may be; it will be settled immediately.

As you stated that it was South Zone (Nehru Place), then you have to go to Wazirpur office. There are two counters: one is for North Zone and another is for South Zone (as Nehru Place office is now shifted to Wazirpur). Meet the PRO of the South Region there. He will definitely help you because it is his duty to provide the status of your claim. If you face any problem there, you can also meet the APFC (Asst. Provident Fund Commissioner) of South Zone.

I had submitted my PF withdrawal form in my previous company in September 2009 to the employer. He gave the EPF money to all others but not to me. He was a security contractor, and I have no contact numbers for him, but I have his official address. Please suggest what to do.
