Struggling with Project Topic: Should I Stick with Competency Mapping or Switch?

Actually, the problem is that I'm doing my training at Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance in Patna. When I go there regarding my summer training, they didn't suggest any topic to me. They just told me to do my project on any topic that I like. They will provide me a certificate for that. They will provide me with the information I need.

Then from the net, I have chosen the topic "competency profiling and competency mapping." In parallel, I am doing a part-time job too. But when I completed more than half of my project by gathering information from the internet and some from the organization, they told me that they are not running any competency-based program.

Then I thought that it's fine, I will do a thorough study on this topic. But the problem is that if during placement they question me on this, I may not be able to answer. They probably know whether competency profiling and mapping are done in Bajaj Allianz. How can I prepare my project on a topic that is not related to the organization?

So, I decided to change my topic and choose an easier one like training and development. Another thing is that now I got a project of one of my super senior on "competency profiling and mapping." However, it is PSU-based, and I am doing my project in the insurance sector. I don't want to change this topic because it is the latest, different, and helpful. Can I do my project based on my senior's project, or should I switch to another project?

Please kindly help me as soon as possible. I am waiting for a reply.

If you know that during your Viva you will be asked about the project relating to Bajaj, and as they do not have this process with them until now, it is advisable to change your topic to something else which you think they have the data and can support you on.

Also, as you have an interest in Competency mapping, you can prepare your project on it for self-study. You can keep this project as an add-on in your interviews.

What do you mean by "format of the above-mentioned topic"? Are you looking for the format of the project report? If so, kindly see my post on MBA Projects, where a sample project is attached.
