Seeking Feedback on My HR Audit Approach at HLL Lifecare Ltd – Is It on the Right Track?

anhad
Greetings to all,

I am doing my summer project with HLL Lifecare Ltd. in Trivandrum.

The topic I have chosen is HR AUDIT OF HLL LIFECARE LTD.

For my research, I am following a 3-tier approach:

1) To observe if the HR department complies with the fundamental HR policies in major HR functions, i.e., Personnel Policy, HRP, Recruitment & Selection, Performance evaluation, Training and development, Employee relation, communication, compensation benefits. For this, I have devised a format which I will request the senior managers to fill in the particular area they are responsible for. Thus, only one questionnaire will be filled to check the compliance.

2) To analyze the compliance of HR functions with the business objectives of the company. This will be done by surveying some 50 executive employees of other departments except HR using a structured questionnaire.

3) To observe the perception of employees about the HR department of the company. This is a simple employee perception survey where the perception of ground-level employees will be evaluated about the HR department. This will be done based on my belief that the perception of an employee about their workplace largely depends on the HR.

Kindly tell me whether my approach is right or wrong. Also, provide me with some research papers on the topic if you have downloaded any from sites like EBSCO and EMERALD or if you can download. Please help me out. I need it for my literature review.

Varun,

I am really pleased to find a query with such detail of what the student has done. A couple of points, as I will be on my way for my holiday for a week. What do you mean by "observe"? Will you be making records as an observer in the organization? Beware of the effect of an observer on the behavior of people involved. You can read about it by searching the web for the Hawthorne Effect.

When we download items from Emerald, we can't give them to others, if I am right. I suggest that you access the articles of interest by searching Emerald: Welcome to Emerald and write to the authors for a copy. They usually oblige.

Please see my posts on Research Methodology and MBA Projects/dissertation, etc., at CiteHR.

Best wishes, Simhan

Dear Nashbramhall,

Senior Member, Board Moderator

Sir,

First of all, I would like to thank you for your kind concern.

Actually, my real objectives for study are as follows:

1) To review the compliance of the HR department with the fundamental HR procedures.
2) To analyze the compliance of HR policies with the organizational goals and objectives.
a. To identify the HR programs that are most important to achieving the organization's objectives.
b. To find out how well the HR department is delivering those programs.
3) To find out the image of the HR department in the organization.
a) To find out the perception of other departments regarding the HR dept.
b) To find out the perception of lower-level employees about the HR dept.

Regarding Emerald and Ebsco, sir, I don't have access to the papers on these sites, and hence, I can only go through the abstracts of the papers. That's why I asked if some senior member who has access to these databases can provide me with the material. But now, as you advised, I will try to ask the authors only for their papers if I get their contact details from the website.

Thank you.

Hello everyone, if you are done with your HR audit project, please send me the questionnaire. I want to conduct a perceptual study on the effectiveness of HR audits. Thank you.
