Navigating Overlapping Job Dates: How Can I Resolve This HR Dilemma?

rio178
Hello All,

Hope anyone can help me. I left company A on 26th March after serving the notice but signed the letter of appointment of company B on 17th March. I told the HR that my relieving is on 26th, but they told if you do not join, we would revoke the offer. As I have already resigned, I have to obey. But still after signing, I took a break/leave from company B and completed my notice period at Company A. Now there is an overlap which is reflected. How can I solve this issue? Neither party is helping me out. Company A says they cannot change the relieving letter. Company B says we cannot change the offer letter. Please help, guys! It's Urgent.

First of all, the whole concept is legally not acceptable. You cannot afford to be an employee of two different companies at the same time. The question here arises: Was your company B aware that you were taking leave for serving the notice period, or more than that, were they aware that you had joined their company but still not been relieved from your other company?

They knew that I was not relieved from the previous company. I also notified company A about my leave to close all the formalities from Company B.

Roi,

I know the company would not have given you any consent in writing. You better go and speak to them and ask for their help; maybe they can make some changes in the appointment letter and assist you.

Hi Pankhuri,

Yes, I have spoken to them, but they say they cannot change it as the company's IT return has been filed.

Hi rsk,

Yes, it's been over a year now since I joined company A. However, now that I have applied to company C, they have asked me the question.
