When a Job Title Causes a Walkout: How Would You Handle This Interview Surprise?

R G NAGENDRA
I was interviewing a candidate for an opening in the Electrical Department. I had selected a candidate, and I was finalizing his salary package. He suddenly asked what his designation would be. I instantly told him Assistant Engineer. He got up from his seat and started walking out of my cabin. I called him and asked for the reason for his walkout. He opened his certificate and showed it, saying, "My university has given me a degree as an Engineer; how can you call me Assistant Engineer." This is a very funny incident. However, I took charge of the situation by arguing in a different way. The candidate didn't accept our offer.

Hi Nagendra,

I am having a hearty laugh reading your post. All I can say is you have to thank your stars that this candidate did not accept the offer letter. It's funny how people pursue things in life. Anyways, thank you for making me smile. Keep sharing and keep posting.

Hi all,

I have an incident to share with you all, which was told to me by my VnC Trainer. Once he had been to Goa to conduct some BPO interviews. While he was interviewing a boy, he asked him to speak on a topic for 3 minutes, and as it was Goa, he gave him the topic of Goa.

The boy started - "Goa is a beautiful place. As there are many scenic beaches, many people come to visit Goa. The beach which I like the most is Madgaon."

My trainer said that somehow he controlled himself, but it was a very hilarious thing for him.
