What I like about Genpact:
"It makes you look for options and does not give up on you. It strongly believes in training for future leaders. Strong hold on values and believes in integrity."

What I don't like about Genpact:
"It's becoming a politics playing field with near and dear ones of the boss making a breakthrough. It comes clear from the recognition. Leaders resort to a lot of unethical ways to save attrition to the extent of recognizing people who are planning to leave."

Dear Sanjay,

I do agree with your views; even I was an ex-employee of Genpact. There's no doubt in Genpact's training, though there are many biases that are followed in the company. As far as politics is concerned, it's everywhere, so I can't say much about it.

It's been a while since I left Genpact, earlier known as GECIS (GE Capital International Services). I have seen this company transition from GE to Genpact. Politics is a part of every organization, whether good or bad. You need to understand that we Indians engage in a lot of politics, and unfortunately, there are individuals who take advantage of this.

Having said that, the culture at Genpact is rooted in the legacy GE culture, and believe me, it helps people grow wherever they go. While GE had a hand in Genpact previously, that is no longer the case. When you have to manage a 30,000-strong and growing BPO, some politics inevitably creeps in because it's the people who shape the company.

Working at Genpact and closely observing it are two different experiences!

Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts. I completely agree with your views. We generally put our 'false ego' in front of us, whether professionally or personally. This often encourages us to engage in unethical behavior, as we strive to satisfy that 'false ego'.

It is crucial for us to clearly understand the reality of situations and respond to them with our conscience, setting aside our 'false ego'.

I agree with Sanjay, yes, Genpact does follow unethical ways to reduce attrition, and they even threaten employees with blacklisting. However, Genpact has poor infrastructure facilities. I remember watching the movie "NO smoking," something similar to that.

Current Challenges in Genpact's Work Environment

1) Most AVPs and above are former GECIS employees from a BPO background, and they lack an IT attitude in their thought process.

2) All duties that should be handled by the company, such as maintaining infrastructure, logistics, and internal documentation, are shifted onto the employees' shoulders. For example, items like printer paper, toilet paper, increments, appraisals, reimbursements, dues, travel, and medical expenses all become the responsibility of the employees. If you fail to keep track of anything, then it's lost. Believe me, it's true. A recent example is that you have to raise a ticket to receive your yearly increment, and if you miss doing so, you will receive a 0% increment.

Detailed Version of the Story as of Today:

If you fail to keep track of anything, then it's gone. Believe me, it's true.

The latest example is that you have to raise a ticket to get your yearly increment, and if you miss it, then you will have a 0% increment.
