Life Lesson from a King: Why Changing Yourself Can Make a Bigger Impact Than Changing the World

Good Morning -
Don't Change the World

Once upon a time, there was a king who ruled a prosperous country. One day, he went on a trip to some distant areas of his country. When he returned to his palace, he complained that his feet were very painful because it was the first time he had gone on such a long trip, and the road he traveled was very rough and stony.

He then ordered his people to cover every road in the entire country with leather. This would require thousands of cows' skin and would cost a huge amount of money. One of his wise servants then dared to tell the king, "Why do you have to spend that unnecessary amount of money? Why don't you just cut a little piece of leather to cover your feet?"

The king was surprised, but he later agreed to the servant's suggestion and made a "shoe" for himself. The story holds a valuable life lesson: to make this world a happier place to live, you should focus on changing yourself - your heart - rather than trying to change the world.

Very true! Many times in life, we ignore small things to accomplish big tasks, but we must first analyze the issue from a micro to macro view.

Really, it's superb... Every time whatever the worst thing happens, we blame our society. According to me, a single person can make a difference. If everyone changes, then society also changes.

An excellent short story oozing with indefatigable morals. Another way of looking at it is that we often fail to recognize simple solutions to a problem. Hope readers will like the quotes in the attachment.

Thanks for the post.

Nice lines, sir. Yes, we need to change ourselves. When we try to change others or impose change on them, enmity begins.
