Please, can anyone provide some ideas about the questions to design a questionnaire on determining which employee suits best for the media industry - a contractual or a permanent-based employee? Please email me at slesha12@gmail.com.

It's a good question. This is nothing but certain MIS based on industry requirements. This could be as under:

1. Daily staff strength with attendance, shift-wise, absent ratio.
2. Daily leave details. How many employees on leave.
3. Monthly salary details, PF/ESI/IT/Prof Tax deductions, etc.
4. Monthly transfer details.
5. Monthly/Annually promotion/Rewards details.
6. Recruitment done/pending vacancy status.
7. Employee relations/interaction programs.
8. Training details Monthly/yearly.
9. Employee exits details. Turnover details. Monthly/yearly.
10. Administrative MID, such as traveling cost, vehicle cost, canteen cost, etc.

You can build up such information on the above aspects as per your requirements. I hope you have got your answer. Any clarification may please ask.

I wonder why you don't take the effort in searching on citehr itself? Do you know that all this info is available on this very site? When you need a resume, do you go stand in front of your job board site and say, "Now give me a resume for Business Analyst," or do you type the words "Business analyst" and search for it? How right you are. I am trying to get people to do some work for themselves and post queries clearly stating who they are, where they work/study, and what the information required is for, etc. It seems to be a losing effort when there are individuals ready to spoon-feed them. However, I must admit there are some students who are very keen to learn and work hard. They can drop me private messages, and they will receive my email ID and Messenger ID. They have progressed to chat with me and get instant replies (I question them more than giving pat answers).

Exactly, sir. And I guess everyone should try getting first-hand information by themselves. We never know if the person who is suggesting is exactly focusing on what we need. Chances are that we will be directed, but may not be in the exact path suiting our need.

I was not aware of this dashboard terminology at all. Maybe ignorance! But I searched on citehr and found a link. When someone like me who has no clue of this terminology can search, why not others?

And members, please motivate freshers to do initial search and then approach us, or anyone who is specialized in that area.

Hey Rakesh, I have a dashboard format, but it's oriented towards training. See if you can customize it as per your needs. And I feel it's perfectly okay to ask for material; that's why we have these kinds of forums, isn't it?

This kind of attitude is not good for this forum. First time when I joined this forum, I was really impressed. However, based on your comments, it seems like no new members have joined. I am not sure where I stand knowledge-wise, and I am not a newcomer. I use HR dashboards weekly with the main goal of improving. I appreciate your comments for newcomers. To all members - please encourage new members to conduct initial research before approaching us or anyone specialized in that area. No one is truly specialized in HR. What I mean is that the role of HR is very intense.

Hi Ash, you are absolutely right. I remember when I asked a question on "Talk to Seniors" when I was new to CiteHR about what competency mapping is. The immediate reply was from Simhan sir that this topic is already covered. Then I realized that first, we should search CiteHR or use Google search. Sharing other things is okay, but sometimes, as you said, there are fewer possibilities for certain topics you are searching for. That's not exactly what you want or expect from members.

If improving the existing one that you are using was the idea, why don't you share the one that you are using, so that people on citehr who are experienced may be able to guide you to improvise on it. Hope you now understood what I meant - whatever is the initial work done, please let us know. And I hope you searched the link I provided in my post (nothing much but just something linking to downloads in citehr).

At the same time, defining a "fresher" is really different in my context when I put it across in my previous comment. For example - in my case - I have strong experience with recruitment, but when it comes to reward management - I am a fresher in that subject. So rather than asking what is reward management or plainly putting it as - help me improve on it, I'd rather say "Hey - I have worked on one, why don't you suggest if this is okay, or if there is a better one I could refer to?" That works!

The papers don't come cheap. However, you can find out the email ID of the authors by doing a search of the web and write to them. Usually they oblige if you clearly state who you are and why you want a copy of their paper. I have even received whole PhD dissertation copies from a couple of authors.

I support the views of Narasimhan and Ash. He has been stressing this very often, but the newcomers wouldn't have read his posts. I understand that many who have completed MBA or PGDBA directly register here and expect something 'readymade' rather than 'finding' out on their own.

Inside a supermarket, we search for something, and if it's not visible to our eyes, we get the help of the salesgirl. Don't we? No doubt, many of us have traveled this journey from the boarding point as a fresher, but posting a query to ask for the full form of 'PF', 'ESI' is something ridiculous. Such questions need not be asked but searched with keywords.

When you hit upon the right post and site, your joy is great. By this way, you can become an expert by getting into any type of search on any topic, provided you have interest and patience.

Usually, the country will have fire regulations that need to be adhered to, and these regulations vary depending upon the nature of the establishment. The way to access it from the internet is to go to www.google.com and use "Fire Policy" as the key phrase. The more specific the keyword you choose, the fewer sites you will have to sift through.

Please let me know how you progress. Like Mohamed Sardhar has said, "I am trying to teach you to fish" rather than giving you "fish."

I wonder if everything is available on this site; then it's over. There should not be any queries/posts here after. If this is the case, we should call CiteHR a search engine rather than a discussion forum. 😄

Agreed, there is information for each topic here, but as queries come up again, new suggestions, views, formats, and additions take place. If, for example, there are 5 formats available for a particular topic on this site, a few more will be added through the posting of queries. It will be an addition to the existing information.

Your point is well understood. If there are five formats available, then all I ask is for you to read those five formats and get back with better questions! This approach will likely prompt people to create and improve upon a better one, rather than sticking with the existing format.

Where is the generator of the thread? Perhaps they can share what they have (if that was their idea - to enhance what they are doing), so that we can suggest potential improvements. Ultimately, people can also make use of it! Does this all make sense to you?

Exactly, we have seen people asking basic questions like manpower planning, which is easily available on the internet or in any HR book. Please take some effort to search for the information. We are lucky enough to get instant information through the internet. Even though you get ready-made PowerPoint presentations, it is of no use unless you have a basic knowledge of the subject.

The questionnaire is essentially based on a comparative study of contractual employees and permanent employees' effectiveness, and which type of employee is best suited for the media industry.

I would like to add a few more reports to what Himanshu listed:

- Age profile
- Gender profile
- Education profile
- Skill/competency profile
- Number in a particular salary band
- Employee availability today/tomorrow/day after, and so on
- Earned leave accumulated by department
- Goal achievement by department
- Appraisal scores by department/SBU
