I have been viewing your comments and replies, and on most occasions, I feel that you end up commenting, "to search over the site." If you do not wish to contribute, you can stay quiet instead of passing your comments like, "you have not done groundwork... and so on." You may be an academician in the UK, but when you are unable to understand the queries and the plight of the individuals who post their questions and do not wish to waste your valuable time, it would be better to stay silent instead of offending the Cite HR members.

It's not a question of feeding a person for a day or, Mr. Nash, we do not need a teacher here. We are all here to share knowledge with one another, and I am aware of your contributions; there is no need to constantly remind us in all your posts with examples of your greatness.

There is a saying whose origin I do not know. It goes like this:

"He who knows and knows that he knows is wise, follow him.
He who knows and knows not that he knows is asleep, wake him.
He who knows not and knows that he knows not is ignorant, teach him.
He who knows not and knows that he knows not is a fool, ignore him."

People who give scant information and seek answers belong to the 3rd class, and I try to teach them. Kindly see my other posts where people have given enough information, done some work, and then asked for guidance.

I'd appreciate it if you could take some time to review Mr. Simhan's profile and his work. Before you comment, consider who and for what you are commenting.

Please understand, a project work is the effort of an individual utilizing their creative ability and logical thinking. We can suggest ways to improve or correct submitted work, which will be beneficial for the individual. However, we should not simply dismiss it.

There are "n" number of people selling projects and "N" number of colleges that do not mind. However, that does not represent quality education or guidance. It is unreasonable to critique Mr. Simhan's response, as he values quality and originality. I fail to see the reason behind your request for him not to comment. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you do not find the answer you seek, please refrain from blaming us; instead, avoid posting here. Citehr is not a platform for spoon-feeding.

Sanjeev, please do not defend someone who is unwilling to put in the effort. The person who posted should also make some individual effort, at least in briefing on the work completed so far.

Regarding the question on Change Management:
Kannan, could you please provide more specific details on what you are looking for? Have you tried asking your friend about the aspect of "Change Management" they are interested in - whether it's related to change management during a recession, change management through technology upgrades, or due to management changes? It is a vast topic.

If you don't want a teacher, that does not mean "we" don't want. What do you call sharing knowledge as? In your dictionary, it looks like you call it spoon feeding. Sharing ideas is different from sharing one's work! Would you teach your son how to ride his bike, or tell him that you will ride for him? This is just like that; any learning has to undergo some efforts from self!

If people wanted to prove their worth - trust me, they should not be here and proving it to anyone here on citehr. It's a pure helping mentality. Hope you got this, Mr. Sanjeev.

If you feel that you are not able to understand a particular topic, the Citehr members are here to explain. I request all of you to please be specific and not make personal comments as it doesn't suit HR professionals.

Kannan, could you please be more specific about what exactly you are looking at? I doubt if you tried asking your friend what "Change Management" he/she was looking at - change management in recession? Or Change Management through technology upgradation? Or because of Management? It's a vast topic.

Mr. Sanjeev, from your profile, you appear mature, and since you are an HR Manager, you are in a better position to assess the situation. With due respect to you, I address you as Sir. What Simhan Sir wants to convey is to develop the ability of searching and obtaining information independently in members of this site. This is a good initiative. Instead of appreciating, or even if you don't appreciate, you could just have kept quiet. However, it seems you are adamant on this point, like a child crying for chocolate, and arguing with not just one but two members as if you are adamant that what you have posted is correct.

The rules of this site do not permit personal attacks on any member. You are requested to express your views in a simple and polite manner. What I find is your attitude is too arrogant, which is bad. Kindly make it a point to improve this.

I am neither competent nor feel the need to act as a mediator in this context. However, I have a few submissions.

1. The calls for help on generic projects, especially those related to summer and similar projects, seem to indicate the unmet need for basic guidance and counseling for students and apprentices in HRM. I hold this view without attempting to judge whether a particular member who made such a post conducted legitimate research or not.

2. It appears that the frequently posted requests for help on generic projects could bring value to CiteHR. With some initial guidance, the results or projects that members come up with could be beneficial to CiteHR and other members.

3. I believe a significant strength of CiteHR is that it allows members to freely express themselves and fosters meaningful intellectual discussions. Therefore, could these types of posts be given their own separate space on the site? Could we assign counselor-like roles to a group of members willing to assist in these matters? There may be other solutions that can be beneficial for everyone.

In conclusion, I am saddened by the occurrence of such undesirable events; however, it may be time for us to learn from this experience and move forward.

On a lighter note, Nash Sir sometimes reminds me of Prof. Dumbledore, and I mean this in a warm and humble way.

Thank you for the contribution. You are correct when you say that students who ask do not have good guides. However, that does not mean they do not know how to search the web. By the time they reach the project stage, they will have worked on their assignments; hence, they know how to access the web.

Regarding your last point, I did not know who Prof. Dumbledore was. Hence, I searched the web and found out at HPL: Albus Dumbledore. I wish I could live as long as he did so that I could serve more students. However, I do not resemble him in physical appearance. On a lighter note, I wish I had as much hair as he has been shown to have.

I would like to know what character or approach of mine is similar to his, as I have not seen Harry Potter's movies.

Dear Mr. Simhan,

Prof. Dumbledore is serious, but he does everything well for the students and the institution. He may not come across as a friendly or jovial teacher, but he can crack a joke or two and hint at things to be done privately with students or colleagues whom he likes. Overall, he is a highly respected school head who knows what needs to be done and how to do it.

I like all the characters in the Harry Potter series and don't mind remembering them and writing about them.

For me, Prof. Dumbledore is apparently venerable, a keeper of secrets, seemingly a strict disciplinarian but surprisingly playful at times. He is a guide and godfather-like figure for kids who may grow to dislike his ways but trust him as a protector against the forces of the dark.

My intention is not to say that Mr. Nash and Dumbledore are the same, but that there seems to be a certain likeness. To appreciate my comments, one needs to read a Potter book and perhaps engage in transactional analysis for self-reflection.

Regarding searching the web and other readily available resources, yes, this may be desirable to maintain certain standards in terms of the posts. However, could it be that by not conducting the search first, the members asking for help are perhaps showing how they value this site and the resourcefulness of the members? Could that be a good thing if it's okay with other members?

· This is not a Froum for Pre KG students. It is a Professional Network.

· Of Late, we find members postings request that they need this, that etc.,

· If they get it readymade they are happy. If Not they puy the balem on the members.

· As a professional, why cant we do some homework in getting the material & then post it for help.

· Change Mgmt is huge area & there is a seperate section for the same in Citehr.

Quite interesting... the whole debate. And where is our GREAT Mr. Kannan after his first posting? Vanished into thin air...? And how does Mr. Sanjeev think he spent his time in seeing this thread, replying to it, and maybe seeing all the others' responses to his comments—fruitful or wasted?

Unless we are sure that the person who makes the posting is SERIOUS about his/her query, would it be worthwhile to spend time to answer? If the attitude is: my time is ONLY important to me... God save such souls and ours too.

And this is where Simhan's comments come... if the person (here it is Kannan, but there have been many earlier on CiteHR who vanish after posting) was serious, he/she would DEFINITELY have made a preliminary effort and said so. I am not sure if Sanjeev has better ideas on HOW TO JUDGE IF HE/SHE IS SERIOUS, except asking for the effort put in thus far.

I am sorry, Sanjeev if my comments have hurt you... but calling a spade a spade is better than nice & deviating comments.

I failed to understand what the initial question was and where it has ended up. I think one needs to focus on the main issue rather than diverting attention elsewhere. Moreover, one should refrain from making personal comments here as this is a professional site and a forum for acquiring knowledge. As for Mr. Simhan, I believe that as a Senior Moderator, one should respect him, seek his guidance, and not disturb him in public.

Please think before you act. Mr. Sinhan is a great personality. He is at the stage where he deserves respect, and despite this, you are talking this way. Have you ever gone through his profile? Along with this, his contribution to Cite-HR has helped all of us a lot. He never replies uselessly. He always helps students and professionals. This is a professional site. No one expects cooked food here. Mr. Octavious, Mr. Peer Sahab, Simhan Sir, and some great contributors are pillars of Cite-HR. I think it's a wrong comment you made. You should apologize.

Oops! Sorry Simhan, I wasn't clear about the saying. In your post, the last 2 lines are the same. :) Anyway, it's not such an important issue. I have only recently started some activity on this site and am amazed at how many people are simply using this site to complete their projects. No need to apologize. If you read carefully, you will find that the last line is not the same as the previous one. In the first case, the person "knows that he knows not"; that means he is aware of his lack of knowledge; and he will benefit from being taught. In the second, the person "knows not that he knows not"; which means he is not even aware of his lack of knowledge, and hence, he should be ignored. No one can teach a person like that. There are quite a few like that.

I request you humbly. Please maintain the dignity of Cite-HR. It's a professional forum, not our Lok Sabha. Behave like professionals, be mature. I appeal to every member to take care that unnecessary arguments and discussions are just a waste of time. Use it for knowledge enhancement.

I also agree with some statements that HR professionals are not like KG students who require spoon-feeding. As Peer Mohammad reminded, there is a separate forum for 'Change Management' on this site itself. One should have at least gone through the index of different forums before posting a question. There is nothing wrong in directing a person to refer to a particular book or site. I also find that there is no meaning in discussing the issue of a personal attack by a member, Mr. Sanjay, who had once attacked me also when I put a reply using a sentence like, "I think..." saying that I should reply specifically and it should not contain an element of doubt. It is obvious that when a reply is made on an issue, all of us contribute to get an end result. We all give our opinions, and these opinions may not be correct. I have not felt that I am perfect in Labor Laws and Industrial Relations, and as such, in most of my advice, you will find 'my versions/opinions' which will be expressed by using sentences with 'I think...'. That does not mean that one who knows something about a matter should not reply. It may be that clue or link which will lead to a final answer.

I also hope Kannan has his answer to his question about Change Management.

I regret to inform you that I am currently not in the office for a while. However, I have noticed that there have been numerous replies and comments that have been helpful to me. As Mr. Simhan mentioned earlier, there is a separate vertical dedicated to change management within our group. I was not aware of this initially, but I have now thoroughly gone through it and gained a wealth of information in this regard. Thank you!
