Understanding PT Calculation: Is It Based on Gross, Basic, or Net Salary?

RNS
Can anyone tell me about PT? How do I calculate the PT, and on which basis? Is it based on gross, basic, or net salary?

Dear Sanchita,

You have to calculate P.Tax as per government specifications on your gross salary. For different stages of salary, there is a fixed amount of P.Tax that will be deducted and deposited as the total amount to the bank. For further help, ask me.

Hi RNS,

PT is calculated on the gross salary. The slabs for calculating PT are as follows:
- If gross is >14999, then PT would be 200.
- If gross is >9999, then PT would be 150.
- If gross is >7999, then PT would be 100.
- If gross is >4999, then PT would be 60.
- If gross is >2999, then PT would be 30.

These are the slabs which we normally follow. Hope your query is solved.

Hi RNS,

Below mentioned is the slab on which PT will be calculated based on the take-home amount (as per my knowledge):

Salary (take-home) PT to be deducted
Up to 2500/- - nill
2500/- to 3500/- - Rs. 60/- per month
3500/- to 5000/- - Rs. 120/- per month
5,000/- to 10,000/- - Rs. 175/- per month
Above 10,000/- - Rs. 200/- per month.

If there are any updates, please let me know.

Akanksha
