I want to start a training program for our employees, so please give your valuable suggestions on which subjects to cover in the first training session.

I am waiting for your reply.

Hi,

I suggest that you first identify your training needs. Understand the objectives of the programs, the expected outcomes, and whether you plan to conduct these programs yourself or if you intend to involve a consultant for assistance.

Dear Mr. Hemant,

Almost all trainings are based on expected learning, except for a few refreshing training programs. To conclude on the topic for the training, you have to go through the training need identification process. Design a training need identification form and distribute it to all departmental heads to understand the gap between the expected performance and the actual performance of the employees working under them. After receiving the forms, summarize the training needs and choose a universal (common) training need to finalize your topic.

You can't conduct training as you are thinking if you want the participants to learn about the topic! For refreshing, you can incorporate games, debates, extempores, etc.

Feel free to contact me for any clarification and assistance.

Best wishes,

The first training class, irrespective of what field your company is in, should be "COMMUNICATION SKILLS." Everything functional/organizational can follow later on. 😊

Dear Hemant Rathod,

First of all, in the training class, an INDUCTION program should be organized. It may last from 3 days to 7 days. Later, based on your job description, you can decide which priority comes first, and that training will be given first. However, before giving job training, the newcomers should be fully acquainted with your organization's culture, motives, your production/services, processes, who your customers are, and what major precautions should be taken to avoid accidents.

For all new employees, it's best to give an induction program, meaning information about the company, the departments, the company goals, vision, mission, expectations, etc. You could include group discussions to generate ideas, games to foster camaraderie among the staff, making them feel welcome with open arms to the company. It should be a one-day session. This could be facilitated by an outsider or the HR manager providing an overview of the company.

Hi Hemanth,

As everyone has suggested, please develop a training needs analysis form and precisely identify the technical as well as behavioral training needs. Then, prepare the modules accordingly.

You can contact me at [Login to view] for any help on preparing the forms or modules.
