Understanding Gujarat's Shops Act 1948: Are Casual and Medical Leaves Mandatory?

cpcon
Dear Friends,

I see the Shops Act 1948 for Gujarat has 21 days of leave per annum and allows for the carryforward of 42 days. However, there is no mention of casual or medical leave, as in Karnataka, Delhi, Andhra, etc.

Could anyone please enlighten me on whether casual and medical/sick leave is mandatory in Gujarat? If so, how many days per year and under what authority/notification, etc.

Dear,

As per the act, only 21 paid leaves are allowed. The law does not specify any casual/sick leave entitlement. Therefore, you have the flexibility to provide leaves as per your choice in your leave policy without any specific restrictions.

Thank you,

I received a copy of the Shops Act for Gujarat showing 21 days PL (carry forward 63 days), 7 days CL, and 7 days sick leave. Can anyone confirm if this is correct? It seems different from the Maharashtra version.
