How Can I Successfully Headhunt for Junior Roles Without Job Portals?

shipra.gupta
Hi all, please help me out in finding the way out for the headhunt for the junior position. As far as I know, headhunt is always done for the higher officials like directors, vice presidents, etc. But my boss in my company is insisting that you can headhunt for the junior positions too, like software engineers, network admins, accountants, etc.

Our subscription for Naukri.com had expired in the month of March, and he is not ready to get that renewed. He is saying that you have to fulfill these requirements by hook or by crook. I tried it with all my personal contacts and references, but nothing worthwhile. I gave him a few resumes after trying out many ways, but all got rejected by him.

Now, I'm finding myself unable to get more resumes without the use of a job portal. Please help me find some way to get resumes.

Hi Shipra,

I may suggest some additional ways for you:
- Post your job on free job sites. Please refer to the previous postings on citehr.
- Utilize your resume database to search for potential candidates.
- Post the job on your corporate website and reach out to training institutes like NIIT or Aptech for potential candidates.

Give these methods a try, it will be helpful!

If you encounter any difficulties, remember "MAIN HOON NA".

Hi,
Thanks Shining and Anand for your valuable advice. Anand, thanks for your number, but you know my boss is on a strict path of cost-cutting and money-saving. He's not ready to pay but wants to fulfill requirements. That is the reason I'm getting a bit frustrated too.

Hey Shipra,

Don't feel frustrated. One more suggestion, friend: post your job on Friday because on Saturday and Sunday, the majority of responses you will get on your posting. Try this, be cool.

Hi Shipra,

You can also join LinkedIn and join various groups by searching for 'HR' or 'headhunting,' etc. I am sure there are many HR-related groups in which many consultancy professionals have already joined, bringing a significant database with them. You can then post your job openings in those groups, and people will start replying to you.

Additionally, try other free job posting websites. Check Shine to see if they allow free postings.

Thank you a lot, Shining and Laxmikant, for your support and advice. Shining, I'll surely try your way out. If you can help me with a few free job posting sites, then I'll be grateful to you.

Shipra,

You may try with a different campus alumni association for selecting junior fellows. As the market is down, campus coordinators will be more than willing to assist you with leads. Just like others suggested, spread the news!

Try searching on social networking websites like Facebook or Orkut; you might find some contacts.

You have so many forums and groups for searching jobs and posting the requirements for absolutely free. Search for those on Google or Yahoo groups, and you will get plenty. Even you can post your requirements here in the relevant section, and you may get references too. All the best.

Hi Shipra,

Why don't you ask your HR friends or colleagues, who have a Naukri login, to post your jobs as a friendly help? Do not give your company details; instead, provide a general email address like jobs@gmail.com, not your official ID, and all the resumes will be forwarded to that ID. This way, you can also build up your database.

By the way, I met a Naukri representative just a few days back, and they offer small budget packages like downloading 100 CVs for Rs. 2500 as a one-time deal. You can consider using them. I am attaching their proposal for your reference.

I hope things will work out. I do not have a Naukri ID either, so I understand it's tough.

All the best.

Hi Shipra,

You can contact Monster.com; they have some schemes like providing 250 candidates and job portals for which they charge Rs. 4000. Alternatively, you can consider Naukri.com for a convenient way to source candidates promptly.

Thank you.

Thank you, everyone, for your suggestions on social networking sites. I am really thankful to all of you for your advice. However, the problem persists as all social networking sites such as Orkut, Facebook, etc., have been blocked by the administrator, and we do not have access to these sites.

Hey, you can try headhunting for junior profiles too; it's easier than hunting for big fish. Also, as Shine suggested, utilize your database and try referencing. I think NIIT and Aptech are not good ideas because they will advertise your company name. I don't think your company will be okay with it.

Hi Shipra,

Try to contact institutes. You can post your jobs on LinkedIn.com and find people through references and networking. You can also visit relevant Yahoo Groups. Try to create a community on Orkut too. I feel these options might help you. 😊

Moreover, try to involve your boss in the loop as he should be aware of the efforts you are taking.

Hi Shipra,

Two of the three leading job sites now have a "search resumes for free" section. Please try it; it has helped me in similar situations a few times. I hope this helps you out.

Best of luck! :)

Also, there are plenty of local training institutes in every other corner providing training in IT hardware/software. They assure their candidates 100% job assistance (but usually fail, as learned from friends and contacts).

Try contacting these training institutes by phone, and I am sure they will be more than happy to refer their candidates in these times of job crunches.

Thanks and regards,
