Navigating Workplace Challenges: How to Manage Unproductive Staff Who Are Director's Relatives?

Dear seniors,

Recently, I was appointed as a deputy manager of a firm dealing with labor supply and real estate in Qatar. In that company, only 10 staff members are working without any rules and regulations. Eight of the staff members are directors' relatives, and they are not working properly. The business is declining day by day. Please help me with where to start and how to deal with the director's relatives. It's a very tough situation. Please help, seniors.

Very well understand your problem;

First of all – schedule a meeting with your supervisor on this matter – quite likely it would be director.

Before you meet the director collate the data and prepare yourself in terms

• What rules are not being followed,
• Elucidate what do you mean that people are not working properly – put it down on paper and also how it should be organized.
• Prepare the draft over the abovementioned issues and meet and discuss with Director and emphasize how it is adversely affecting the business and your ideas on resolution. Also ask for the ideas/opinion from the director which would help to organize the Business in a better way.

Take the professional approach and not whine while during the meeting.

Handle the situation calmly. Nobody (entrepreneur) wants losses in business, even from relatives. For that, you have to follow a few steps as outlined below:

1) Be professional, not emotional or personal.
2) Search out the root cause of losses and document it clearly.
3) Find the best possible solutions to overcome losses.
4) Discuss the issue with your immediate boss along with the proposed solutions.
5) Provide suggestions and remember to arrange a professional meeting with your director, including your boss.

No organization can achieve success without employees who have a positive attitude and a sense of belonging (entrepreneurial skills).

Please do not waste your time. Search for another opening or employ some tricks to bring in more business. Ultimately, what matters in business are your results. You must prove yourself as an asset because directors' relatives shall be seen as a liability. To achieve this, you need to focus on the business.

I understand that you are required to deal with contractors and contract labor in Qatar. I request you to study the labor policy and legislation of that country, which are completely different from those in India. It is crucial that you are very careful in your job.
