The sweet seventeen Cite HR team of Bangalore proposes to hold the Third Meet on Sunday, 12th Nov 06. We hope that the report and photos from the last meeting would have motivated many more to join the event. The agenda for this meeting, as decided in the last one, will be as follows:

The venue is Karnataka Badminton Association at no.3 Jasma Bhavan Road, Millers Tank Bed area, Bangalore 52.

The directions to reach the location are simple: if you reach Alliance Francaise, take the road in front of Alliance Francaise and then take the first left turn. The building is next to the Karnataka Billiards Association.

Some of you might be interested in this or could help me with contacts. My name is Thomas Dahm, and I am a German graduate student of International Management at the University of Nijmegen in The Netherlands.

I am currently writing my Master thesis on inter-firm mobility of highly educated staff in India. The purpose of the research is to analyze why certain firms are more attractive for employees than others in times of high attrition and frequent job hopping, which already are and will be big challenges in the future. This research aims at investigating the relationship between the different concepts: attrition, employer of choice, and applied recruitment method.

I am going to visit Bangalore from 13 November till 26th of November, in order to gain empirical data by the means of short personal interviews with persons who are concerned with the recruitment and/or HRM.

The third HR meeting on the 12th was quite interesting. The presentation made by Mr. Kurien was enlightening. Vision and goals are great, but what is more important is to have values.

The illustration shown in the video - River Crossing and Starfish - drove the message very effectively.

Fellow attendees shared many interesting viewpoints and real HR case studies.

May the HR fraternity consolidate and flourish.

I wish to thank the organizers of the meeting and Mr. Kurien for the enlightening evening.

The 3rd edition of the CiteHR meet was very good. Despite the not so ideal attendance, the meeting picked up speed, and it was a wonderful experience. Mr. Kurien's presentation was superb, and we all learned about the importance of having a vision.

I'll stick my neck out and put a few points out for all:
1) If you have informed that you are coming, please make it to the meeting without fail.
2) If you can't, please inform the organizer that you can't come, so that we don't have to twiddle our thumbs waiting for you. I'm sure we all understand the importance of communication.

I'm sure that all the members have taken it in the right spirit, being HR practitioners, and they will not mind my pointing these points out.

Let's work towards bigger and better meetings.

I think my friends who helped me in organizing this event made it clear what the prime responsibility of an HR Professional is (i.e., commitment).

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Kurian for giving us a wonderful presentation on the importance of building "Vision" aligned with values. This has at least helped the minds of the people who attended this 3rd offline meet.

I would also like to thank the people who honored their commitments in attending this meet and also thank those who could not make it to the meet but kept us informed about their absence.

I am overwhelmed by the responses to the last presentation. Thanks for all your encouragement. The best part is that everyone was so positive about the fact that organizations need to be value-driven in order to survive. Many people believe that one has to be unethical to prosper. In this age of globalization, it's important that companies recognize the need to be ethical and be known for integrity to compete in this globalized world. HR professionals can play a key role in promoting this culture, and here I believe we are making a good beginning.

I certainly would like to share my experiences in this area with the whole HR community.

The 3rd Cite HR Meet was great. We had a good discussion and presentation from Mr. Kurian about the vision, values, etc. However, we couldn't help out the member who couldn't attend the meeting prior to confirmation from the said members. I believe they are stuck in their busy schedules. Despite this, we had a good session. We expect more values to be shared in the coming events.

Team, let's aim for something bigger! Members, please join us and share your valuable thoughts to help each other grow.
