Hi,
As far as I understand the purpose of varification is to ensure that the potential employee is clean.In other words no criminal cases are pending against him, he really possess the stated qualification and experience etc. Is not it? This is based on the logic that past performance is the indicator for future. But in most of the cases it has been observed that an employee who gets himself involed in a scam has got a clean record in the past.So my question is what your organizations(or other agencies involved in background checking) can do regarding it? To predict the future behaviour of potential employee is impossible.To simply check his past and brand him as saint or sinner does not serve any purpose.Had it been the case we would have ben deprived of "Ramayana" because the great sage Valmiki was a bandit.
Hope one day I get an answer to my question and I also hope that something better than background check also emerges.
