540 Degree Performance Appraisal - Appraisal Feedback

Before some time any of you asked about 540 Degree Feedback and also told that this is a new word for us. No friends this is not a neonate word in the world of HR.
The range of feedback on the performance of an employee is generated from the stakeholders - Superiors, Subordinates. Peers, Internal and External Customers, Clients or Suppliers is known as 540 Degree feedback or appraisal.
In this, the customers and suppliers also evaluate the performance which helps us to defferentiate from the 360 degree performance appraisal. General Electric Company, USA, was the first to tryout this concept in early 1990s. Several Reliance Industries, Godrej-GE, Godrej Soaps, Tata Steel, Telco, Voltas, Infosys, Wipro, Eicher, American Express, Thomas Cook, and thermax, to name a few........

Well if that is so then that means that 540= 360+ Clients+ Suppliers and this covers everyone namely self,peers, superiors,subordinates,internal & external customers,clients & suppliers then what is 720 degrees appraisal ? How do u differntiate between the two as 720 also covers evrything except for clients & suppliers so which is a wider appraisal 540 or 720?
Pls clarify my doubts as i think 720 is a wider appraisal covering more parties than 540 but as u say 540 covers more as it also includes clients & suppliers along with customers but 720 does not.Please help in differentiating between the two.

dear,
there is no difference between 540 & 720, the thing is the more numbers you add the more confusion will be there.
the best appraisal system is 360....

In traditional 360 degree appraisal, raters include:
• Boss
• Peers – immediate & functional colleagues
• Direct reporters
• Colleagues and internal customers
Then, 540 degree appraisal add more external customers and suppliers
720 degree would also take the feedback from stakeholders & family. So that in 720 degree appraisal, feedback is taken from external sources such as stakeholders, family, suppliers, communities….
