Confused About Professional Tax for Salaries Over Rs. 10,000? Let's Discuss!

Dear all,

According to my knowledge, the Professional Tax (PT) for a salary of more than Rs. 10,000 is Rs. 200. I received a salary sheet from this site which indicates the PT as Rs. 100 for a salary of Rs. 13,500.

Please help.

Hi Neha,

As far as Maharashtra State is concerned, the slab is Rs. 200 for any amount above Rs. 10,000. However, it varies from state to state. Therefore, please specify which state you are inquiring about!

The professional tax slab has been amended from 01-Apr-2009 to Rs. 10,000/-. The current slabs are as follows:
< Rs. 10,000/- NIL
Rs. 10,000/- to Rs. 15,000/- 150/-
> Rs. 15,000/- 200/-
