Changing Jobs: How Do You Transfer Your PF and Is a Digital Appointment Letter Enough?

nishi_9
Certainly! Here is your corrected text with proper spelling, grammar, and formatting:

Could you kindly tell me:

1. How does the PF get transferred when you change an employer?

2. Is it okay to receive an appointment letter from the new employer via mail, or does it have to be a hard copy to be assured before leaving the current employer?

Thank you,
Nisha

Dear Nisha,

In case you want to transfer your PF, you have to fill out a form available at your current company and deposit it at the PF office. It will automatically be transferred to your account.

Regarding the appointment letter, you can receive the offer letter by email. However, it is advisable to obtain a hard copy of the appointment letter as it is more reliable.

Hi Nisha,

When it comes to PF transfer, you have to fill out the PF transfer form from your current company. The form will then be forwarded to your previous employer for further processing, and your money will be transferred accordingly. It is always wise to accept the hard copy of the appointment letter as it is more authentic.

Thank you, Srishti and Khyati.

I have requested my new employer to provide me with an appointment letter in hard copy.

Regarding the PF transfer, thank you for your inputs. I am currently serving a notice period in my current company and will be joining the new employer in November.

I have a question: instead of filling out a form for PF transfer, is it possible to obtain a PF number from my current employer and provide it to the new employer once I start working there? Will the transfer of funds then happen directly? Your guidance on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your response.

Nisha

Hi,

To initiate a PF transfer, visit your local office and obtain the necessary form. Fill it out with details from your current employer and then submit it to your previous employer. They will forward it to the PF office for processing. Once completed, the PF office will return the form to your current employer.

It is advisable to obtain a hard copy of your appointment letter as a soft copy may not bear the employer's signature.

Hi,

Every employer has its own specific form for PF transfer with the letterhead of the company. To obtain the PF transfer form, simply reach out to your HR department, and they will be able to assist you. I also need the form, so I will be requesting it from my HR as well. The form will require details such as your old PF account number and the current PF account number where you wish to transfer the old PF amount.

OK.

Hi,

I submitted Form 13 for EPF transfer, but I don't know whether it has been processed or not. How can I find out if my EPF has been transferred or not?

Thank you.
thakkar.ankit21@gmail.com
Hi,

Actually, there isn't any service to check the PF amount. However, you can contact your HR and ask for the statements of the PF amount monthly. They can help you know whether your PF has been transferred or not.

Hi,

You can go to the website EPFO and check your PF claim status by providing the necessary input as requested.

Kindly revert after trying the above.

Hi All,

I am in a big mess. I had to transfer my PF account from the previous organization to the new one. However, due to a hectic schedule, I forgot to fill out the PF Transfer form and submitted it after 6 months of my service in the new organization. I was amazed to find that my previous organization had already transferred my PF amount to my savings account, stating that they received my application after 2 months of my leaving the organization. In that case, they transferred the amount to the savings account by default and without any intimation to me. Now, as a result, since I had not completed 5 years of service, I have to bear a huge tax liability as the entire PF amount credited to my savings account has been treated as my income.

I would like to have your suggestions in this case. Is there really any 2-month limit within which you need to transfer your PF account? Can I sue them for this? Please help me out.

Hi,

You can submit Form 13(R) from the present employer along with details of Form 3A, Form 5, and Form 10, with the particulars of NCP/Break of Service if any in the course of previous employment from the previous organization. Mention the details of previous employment and present employment, Previous organization PF A/c No, and Present organization PF A/c No details. Submit the same to the EPFO office of your area concerned to transfer your accumulations from the previous employer to the present employer.

This is for your kind information.

Dear Friends,

Siri has correctly mentioned Form-13 for PF transfer, which you can download from the PF website www.epfindia.com. You need to submit it to your present employer, and they will take care of it. Later, after a few months, it's better to visit the PF office and provide your current PF number to check whether the PF amount has been transferred or not.

Regarding how to check the PF amount, I hope your company will provide you with a salary statement, and based on that, you can track it on a monthly basis. We are all supposed to receive Form-23 from the PF department to know the yearly PF balance.

Hi,

To know the status of your PF claim, you have to visit the EPFO website. You will be able to check the status by entering your former employer's company code and your previous PF number.

Thanks,

Dear All,

For transferring the PF accumulations from the previous employer to the new employer, it is correct that Form No. 13 is to be filled out by the current employer and submitted to the attached Regional Provident Fund Office.

Although I am attaching a copy of Form No. 13, it is always better to obtain the form from the PF office or even the HR department of the current employer can assist in obtaining the form from the PF Department.

All forms with respect to PF can be downloaded here at [EPFO](http://www.epfindia.com).

In the homepage, click on downloads, then forms, and choose the form that you need to download. For PF transfer, use Form 13, and in case of PF withdrawals, use Form 19 and 10C.

Thanks,
Venkat

Form 13 is also available at the PF Office located in your city. Form 13 should be filled out by your present employer with your new PF Number, and then sent to your previous employer. Your previous employer will then forward it to the PF office. The PF office will handle the formalities and send it back to your current employer. The actual process time is one month from the date of submission. The PF office will inform you once the transfer is complete.

Hi,

I joined my current organization in Nov '09 and am still pending the transfer of PF accounts from my last two previous employers. In my last organization, I worked there for almost 2 years but never transferred my PF. Now, I want to transfer both PF accounts to a new account. Please help!!!

I also heard that PF accounts may be carried over to a new organization as well. There is no need to create a new PF account in each and every organization.

As far as the transfer of funds is concerned, you need to fill out Form No. 13, which will be available in your current organization. Your current organization will assign you the PF number that you have to mention in Form No. 13 along with your old PF number. This way, the funds from your old PF account will be transferred to your new PF account.

Hi,

How can I transfer my PF account to my new employer? Do I need to contact my previous employer? Who is responsible for submitting Form 13, me or my current employer? Where should it be submitted?

Raj.

Please find the attached Form-13 for your reference.

My pension fund has not been transferred to my current ID from my old company. Only the employee's share has been transferred. Is this okay? If I leave this company and join another company, what happens to my pension fund up to today?
