Struggling to Land a Job in Delhi NCR: Is the Market Tough for HR Pros Right Now?

anu_jan_84
Hi all,

I am an MBA HR with 4+ years of work experience. I have been trying for a new job in the Delhi NCR region for the last 4 months, but I am not getting a response from the majority of job applications. Can you kindly help me in understanding if this is due to the market situation? Are a lot of other HR professionals facing this problem?

I am confused as I see many jobs posted on job sites but to no avail.

Thanks,
Anuradha

Dear Anu,

A few tips:

Kindly call the recruiter instead of just applying through email. Please update your resume every week because job boards display only recently updated profiles on the first page. When a recruiter searches for an HR profile matching your background, they will already have 10 resumes (recently updated) on their first page, and they are likely to hire from that list. Remember to mention your salary range and your willingness to relocate (yes or no). Provide a detailed resume that highlights your achievements.

I hope these suggestions are helpful. My initial recommendation would be to call and communicate with the company rather than solely relying on emails.

Hi,

In HR, jobs are being offered to the known ones and not through portals. Most of the jobs are on hold for HR. I myself have been looking for a job for 3 months. I am very much open to relocate, but there is no response from the market. If by chance the recruiter calls, the first question he asks is why did you leave the old company. Is this due to some factor? But, in reality, I left the old company due to misbehavior and the wrong language used by my reporting manager.

I think all these forums need to suggest a proper methodology to handle such situations, but no one provides proper direction. If HR is facing such problems, what happens to others?

Hello Mr. Jai Bakshi,

Could I send you my wife's resume? The problem is the same with her as with Anu and Trehan. She is also not getting any calls for the past 3 months. Please suggest.

Hello,

My name is Sagar, and I have just completed my 4th semester of PG-MBA. Results are on 12th June 2009. I have been searching for jobs since January 2009, but I have not been able to secure any corporate HR positions. I am not willing to work in consultancy roles.

One company has offered me a package of 1.20 lakh, but I would have to sign a 3-year bond. Please advise.
