Provident Fund Withdrawal: What Documents Do I Need and Is Stating a Reason Required?

Deepti Bandi
Hi,

Can anyone tell me what are the supporting documents to be submitted while applying for Provident Fund withdrawal? Also, I want to know if it is necessary to mention the reason for fund withdrawal in the withdrawal form.

Dear,

No supporting document is required to submit along with PF withdrawal form. You are required to fill out Form 10C and 19 and get it attested by your employer.

Thank you.

Hi Deepti,

Along with the forms 19 and 10C, you can give a canceled check as proof of the bank account, but it is not mandatory.

Dear Deepti,

It all depends on how many years you have worked with the company. If it's below 9 1/2 years, then no document is required. Only Forms 19 and 10(C) need to be filled up and submitted, duly signed by the authorized signatory. However, if you have worked for more than 9 1/2 years, then supporting documents like proof of age of your nominees are required for the issuance of the Scheme certificate by the P.F. Authorities.

There is a separate column in both the forms that ask for the reason for separation from the company, but you don't need to write the reason for fund withdrawal in these forms unless, of course, you are taking an advance from your P.F. balance in Form 31.

Hope that clears your query.

Hi,

You can submit Form 19, 10C, and last year's Form 3A. Is it necessary to mention the reason for fund withdrawal in the withdrawal form? I could not understand where it comes in the form.

Dear Manokavin,

As you mentioned, it is 100% better to transfer your account. However, if an employee gets laid off and is looking for a job, how can he/she transfer the account?

Your reply will be highly appreciated.

Thank you.

You can submit Form 19, 10C, and 3A along with bank account proof duly signed by the authorized signatory only.

Hi!

Sometimes, if there is a delay in PF withdrawal, like 2 to 3 years or more, the PF office may ask for a reason for the delay to be addressed to the Regional PF Commissioner. They may also require the presentation of the bank account statement along with Form 19 and 10C. This recently happened with some of our colleagues.

Thanks for the information. Could anyone tell me whether we will receive any intimation from the EPF office after the transfer happens? If not, what other ways are there to find out? Please guide.

EPF office has to give you a copy of Annexure K, which is the actual transfer paper. You need to preserve it to check with the next annual PF slip whether the transfer is accounted properly in the new account.

I have worked in Mumbai for 11 months. Also, I have submitted PF withdrawal forms, but still, I have not received the check. It's almost 2 months over. What should I do? How can I check the matter? Kindly guide me.

My name is Ritesh Desai. I submitted my P.F. on 23/7/12, and all my documents have been submitted. However, I have not received any updates yet, and I am unsure about the status of my P.F. withdrawal and the amount. Can you please inform me how many times I will receive my amount?

Thank you,

Hi Deepti, your canceled cheque and proof of bank are required for withdrawing PF.
