There are lot of emerging topics, but the point is, it would be more advicable for you to slecet a topic where you can get more exposure through the consultancy you are working with.
You could also selct a topic where you can predict that the conclusion will be helpfull to the consultancy. You could take advice from them about theire future initiatives and may be you could do project proposal on that area.
some of the topics i could think of in your situation...are
1. Role of consultancies in providing support to the good Talent who are jobless.
2. Benchmarking compensation: industry specific.
