Funny Job Description..... But Real

Shikha_Singh
Well these kind of 'khichdi' responsibilties are common for all professionals. In IT companies, (big and small) people are asked to do any and every sort of work, if the manager or company feels the need........ To add to the woes, the current economic situation is not in the favour of employees.......... Atleast this job ad is clear and not hiding the real facts.........

I agree with Chandru and Ravi - we HR try to emphaize more on our duties viz. recruitment, PMS, T&D and with that comes with employers expecting us to do admin functions!!! I feel we as HR should unite and not agree to do admin functions, if we waste our time in doing these, then who will do ours? R we expected to be master of all trades? & to top it as Ravi rightly said- the particular JD must be posted by a HR specialist!!?? God, save us!!

I very much agree with Anju Prince , yes many co does not understand the actual difference between the HR ,HRD & admin . I have seen many of my friends in such co designated as HR but doing works no way related to HR. It Marjorly happens in co where the Management does not understand what the real role of an HR.

Hi all, really, some JD's are full of errors. Recently I came across 2 different job postings in one, backdate was mentioned to appear for walkin. How could a candidate walkin in back date?? In 2nd job posting, email id was given to apply which was wrong!!! I feel many a times, ppl just donot check JD's properly.. Nitu:!:

Read all the comments..... well I kinda agree with what Shikha has to say. Agreed that there are different responsibilities for the HR and the Admin departments but I think most of the companies try n club the responsibilities in one! It also depends on the set up of the company. But its nice that the employer has mentioned the details in the JD and are pretty sure of what they are looking for! Atleast there won;t be any surprise packages for the candidate who joins them! :-P - Ketaky

Hi friends, We could notice various views, so to say the sensitive feelings of many of us as an employee (any levels). But i am unable find a practical sollution brought out here. But to be frank we are confined to the situation of Job. Ofcourse a awkward position. Is there a saviour to redeem the case. If possible, share out a sollutions to this issue. lets try to change this atleast be a part of the change. Regards Samrat

Read all above comments..well HR should be separate from Admin. but in small companies it is handled by one person.. Even i also see people working in Manufacturing companies and handling HR/Admin/Legal Collectively.... But bcz of this they are nt Specialized in their work..as others said.. Regards, Ady

Hey all what i found in various job advertisements appearing now-a-days is: they look for a candiate who can do all types of jobs irrelevant to their nature of back ground and profile. and as some members cited, cost effective measure play a vital role in releasing such "Irrelevant and funny JD" I strongly condemn the people who release the JD and really this will demotivate the employee who would be competent enough in his area of expertise. So, putting a crisp and precise JD is utmost in need and that too during recession. A person cannot do scavanger jobs as the post itself is abolished by government now-a-days. kb

Well KB, When the Employer want to get these jobs done from the person that he wishes to employ don't you think its good that he is making things clear in the first place. Rest depends on the candidates who has to decide whether they want to apply or they don't. I am not really supporting employers who do not understand tasks for different job roles but I strongly think that nature of job is highly dependent on the set up of job. But its good that that employers tell the candidates in advance. I would hate to work for an employer who initially talks of hard core recruitment, performance management and trainings in the JD for HR opening but after 2-3 months involves me into admin job, vendor management etc etc etc........ Wat say?? - Ketaky

This reminds me of a joke that was widely heard around during recession. Poultry Manager: Hey... all. Much of feed may not be supplied to you as it used to be. Bird flu is spreading fast and recession toll is high. Have this in mind and try to step up daily egg production. Chicks: Sir, we are too young to learn to lay and hatch eggs. We don't know. Hens: Somehow we will train them and see to that your objective is achieved. Please see to that sufficient number of cocks turn up for every shift. They are too lazy to cooperate with us. Poultry Manager: Dear hens, I have given strict orders that Cocks have to lay eggs and hatch themselves. Cocks: We are new to this 'egg laying' domain and they want us to slog more...?? Poultry Manager: Being a human, when I am trying and struggling to lay egg myself.... why not you flocks do it..?? This is what we call as multi-tasking. Regards, Chandru
