Can Your Company Make You Work Instead of Taking an Election Day Off?

Can anyone clarify whether an organization can work in lieu of an election paid holiday?

Since it is a paid holiday, the same should not be compensated by working on any other day. However, few organizations are planning to compensate the same in lieu of the paid holiday.

In my organization, we are not compensating for the paid holiday.
