How Can I Transition to an HR Career While Managing Financial Responsibilities?

I am 24 years old, and I have been working in an online business promotion company for the last 3 years. Currently, I am pursuing my MBA-HR 3rd Semester through Distance Learning. Please understand my situation and advise me on what steps I should take.

I aim to transition my career entirely into the HR industry, with the goal of becoming an "HR Director" or a "Senior HR Manager." In my current role at the organization, I serve as a Data QC Manager leading a team of 6 individuals.

I have 2 dependents and significant financial responsibilities, making it difficult for me to take any financial risks. I seek guidance on how I can achieve my aspirations under these circumstances. I am a highly ambitious person and eager to progress in my career.

Seniors, please guide me as I greatly value and require your valuable suggestions. I am sincerely grateful for your assistance.

As per me, it's all about your commitment and your decision. I'll give my example only. I was thinking of pursuing a Ph.D. in Physics while I was studying in my undergraduate program. However, due to some unavoidable circumstances, I ended up joining an MBA program with dual specializations in HR and Marketing. Initially, I planned to kickstart my career in Marketing, but I was offered a position in HR at a prestigious construction company through campus recruitment. Currently, I have 2 years of experience in HR, and I am committed to continuing in this field. Although I had plans to transition to Marketing at some point, I ultimately decided to stay in HR.

I shared my experience just to convey that "everything depends on you alone." You have to make the decision to pursue what you truly desire.

It's just dependent upon your interest, but be strict with it. Check all pros and cons for both profiles. The HR profile is very vast, with a lot of things including recruitment, training and development, compensation, and benefits. If you want, you can specialize in any one of these areas, or you can be a generalist and handle all these aspects as a one-man army.

Hello everyone,

I am working with the hospital industry as an office executive for more than 3 years. Now, I have completed my post-graduation in HR. I would like to change my work profile but I am not able to get a chance in HR.

I have given so many interviews in hospitals for the HR position. They treated me as a fresher because I don't have any experience in this field, and my previous experience was counted as zero. What should I do? I am not able to get a break anywhere.

They are right. If you don't have any relevant experience, they won't hire you. Start from scratch, like a trainee or fresher position, if you are seriously willing to begin or switch to HR. Don't focus on salary in the initial steps; instead, work hard, gain knowledge, and then you will deserve it.
