Planning the Bangalore HR Meet: How Can We Make It a Success This Time?

sumi71
Dear All,

After a long gap, we are planning for CHR Meet in Bangalore. The tentative date will be 16th May '09. Please put in your suggestions and topics to help decide on organizing this meet. We are looking for volunteers to organize this meet, and we have sponsors for this program. To ensure the success of the program, we need a good number of participants. Let's aim to avoid canceling the program due to poor response as we did last time. Start sending in your registrations.

Excellent, Umesh.

We can do it. Any friends from event management, please send your opinions and suggestions to make it a big hit. I suggest, let us prepare one registration form for the registration and take it ahead. I can do it if required.

Regards,
Shiv

Dear Shiva,

Thank you for your immediate response. Your interest gives me confidence that this meeting will go on as scheduled. We do not need to look for any event management people for this as we can handle it ourselves, and we have done so in the past three times. I only need some free time from people like you to plan and execute.

As you mentioned that you can design a registration form and upload it here, we can review and finalize it.

nashbramhall
Hi Umesh,

I won't be able to attend your meeting in May, but I may visit Bangalore later in the year.

I wish your event great success.

Dear Mr. Narasimhan,

Thank you for the message. We are eagerly looking forward to your visit to India. We really had a very good session last time with you being a Guest Speaker.

Sure, we will have one more such meeting in Bangalore when you come back to India.

Hi Umesh,

I am new to Cite HR. I am just a 20-day member here now. I am not aware of your last meeting and the topics that you discussed. But, I would love to contribute to making it a successful event. Please let me know in what area you want me to work on. The registration forms are already being handled by Shiva.

Regards,
Kavitha.

Hi Shiva,

You can design the registration format, but you need to work on it quickly as the deadline is approaching. Please send me a private message with your contact number so we can discuss the details further.

Dear Kavitha,

Welcome to Cite HR Bangalore Forum. We have conducted three events in the past which were very successful, and the response was good. We were able to do it because of other HR professionals who worked together with us. Like I mentioned to Shiva, you can send me your contact number through private message, and we can discuss. I will also share my number.

Don't post your number in this thread as it may not be correct to share numbers in a public forum, which could affect your privacy too.

Regards,
shiva_HRM
Dear Umesh,

Further to our discussion, I believe that we will get a good response for this and will have a successful meeting in Bangalore.

Hi Umesh,

Please don't get disappointed. Let us draft the registration form and see how many participants we have. Based on the number of participants, we can decide. That's my suggestion. Your thoughts, please?

Yousuf

Dear Yousuf,

Thanks for your concern and suggestion, but we have decided on the date as 16th May 09, and we didn't receive any good response from HR professionals. During our earlier meets, as soon as the posting was done about the meet, we used to get at least 10 replies on average per day, showing their interest.

It is an insult to the guest speakers when the number of participants is less. So unless we have a good number of registrations, we can't proceed further. Last time, I also had to cancel an event like this due to poor response. Let us wait and see.

Abdullahyousuf
Hi Umesh,

Appreciate your prompt reply. I think we should post an invitation exclusively for Bangalore as suggested by Harini. Let us see the response. Your suggestions, please.

Thanks,
Regards,
Yousuf

Dear Yousuf,

Thank you for your support. This kind of support and coordination, I used to get earlier from people. Since they all relocated to different places, we were not able to make it happen.

The interest should come from the individual and not by force.

I did a small analysis, which clearly indicates that there are a lot of workshops and seminars happening on IT, Finance, Sales, Operations, Personality Development, etc., but if you see, HR workshops or seminars are very rarely happening. In fact, we are offering this session for free, yet people are not interested in attending. I think this kind of attitude only makes company management ignore HR professionals or not give them the importance they deserve.

The response from new members is not great as they are not interested in attending these HR meetings. They do not realize the benefits of participating in these meetings. It is a networking platform for all HR professionals to share ideas, new HR concepts, technologies, as well as job openings.

Many participants of earlier meetings have found jobs in different companies and advanced in their careers. The job offers they received were from other participants of the meeting.

I have made many HR friends through these meetings, and we regularly stay in touch over the phone, emails, or sometimes meet personally to share our ideas on subjects as well as personal matters. (If you get closer to people, you will also make good friends).

Anyway, let us see what is the best course of action, whether to hold it on the 16th or postpone it to a later date.

Hi Umesh,

It's really good to see this post. Our company will be ready to visit the seminar/workshop. If it is confirmed, please provide us with the venue details.

Thanks,

Hi Umesh,

Good to know CiteHR Meet is happening again in Bangalore. The memories of the last meet are still fresh. It was indeed a great event, and I appreciate you and your team members for taking the time to arrange the meet. It was very informative, and I had the opportunity to network with HR professionals on a one-to-one basis. I am excited to attend this meet too. Please let me know the details.

Kiran

Hi Shiva,

You are right. Let us discuss how to make the meeting successful, but I am not sure if we can have the meeting on 16th May. We might need to postpone it.

What do you say, Shiva & Umesh?

Yousuf

Hi Yusuf,

Right, it is not at all. After seeing the response, I feel like we are on the wrong path in approaching the members. Let us say one thing - all Bangaloreans welcome such events wholeheartedly.

That would be wonderful. I would definitely participate to get all the benefits out of this event. Please consider having it at NIMHANS CONVENTION HALL, which is very neat and huge. I had been to STARTUPCITY last week, and it was well-organized. It comes with 5 auditoriums to have speakers address various segments.

Mahesh
