How Far Can We Stretch the Meaning of a Word? Join This Fun Vocabulary Exercise

manoj.bharti
Hey!!!

I have an idea to improve our vocabulary......

It goes just like that..... Take a word and write its meaning then write the meaning of the meaning so on...... Just see where the meaning of the first word reaches........

For example, we take the word Good:

Good ----> Fine
Fine ----> Well
Well ----> Healthy
Healthy ----> Fit
Fit ----> Vigorous
Vigorous ----> Energetic
Energetic ----> Dynamic
Dynamic ----> Vibrant... and so on.......

Just keep it going and see where the meaning of "good" reaches!!!

Please reach the 'Last Page' to see the last meaning, then suggest a new meaning.

Hi Ketki,

It's great to discover new words and enhance our vocabulary. I continue further with another word:

Forlorn ➡️ Sad

Keep up the good work in expanding your word bank!

Best regards

We started this post from the word 'Good'. We kept putting a series of meanings out of meaning and now the last meaning of 'Good'... reached to Suicide/self-destruction. Let us see how far the series of meanings reaches. Let us continue further.

Self-destruction ---> ending life.

I can't believe that the vocabulary stock of citehr'ites is over............

C'mon friends, this is one word of which we have extended meaning so far, now suggest another word... bit different and new..... and let us go with its meaning out of meanings :idea:

This time I'll not suggest a new word, let somebody else suggest it. But it should be new and uncommon.... till then, I am continuing this exercise.....

Adorable--------> Lovely

Hi All,

We had enough vocabulary exercise starting with a single word, "Good." Now, I feel the meanings are getting repeated. I requested earlier that members come up with a new and uncommon word and elaborate on its meaning. The last word in the sequence following the meaning of "Good" was posted by Asha as "Spoon-fed." It was a nice contribution from all of you.

Now, I am taking the initiative to suggest a new and uncommon word. I believe that to enrich our vocabulary, we should introduce new words at regular intervals. Let's begin with a new word:

Silhouette.......

Please continue with its meaning.

Dear Divya-Jyoti,

Yaar, please try to reach the last page of the post if you want to add something. You are still responding to the last word of the first page.

The last word posted was "Drawing: -----------> Depiction...."
manoj.bharti
Poonam... In sequence, the last word was "Idyllic." Let us delve further into it.

Idyllic ➡️ Relax

Hey RJ, Cool! This post is for knowledge enhancement. :icon10: Did you forget to take your medicine in the evening? :icon6:

Let us continue.......

Progress: Evolution..

Hi Hardeep,

Good participation, but try to restrict meaning to a single word... :icon1: I'll continue further. Integral part of something ➔ Part. Part ➔ Component.

Sorry, there was an interruption! :(

There is a lesson learned today: To get to DARLING, one has to start at GOOD! :icon1:

Deary: Pet :icon1:

Thank you!

Friends, thanks for such great participation. Learning a lot of new words. Please keep going. Commence → instigate.
manoj.bharti
Please don't post any kind of stupidity. Please don't use this site for your personal feelings. Now please proceed with the word 'Pleased...'
manoj.bharti
Trygaya... the last word is Attainment. I think you have only seen the first page. Anyway, continuing further...

Attainment --> Accomplishment

The post was started with the word "GOOD" and the meanings from good now reached to "BAD"... (Though it happened the second time). :) :) :)

It's now the proven magic of meanings. I suggest we stop meanings of good over here and start a new word... What should it be... Magic !!! :)

So let us start with magic... with post No. 751 in this thread....

Let me also have the opportunity to THANK all the friends who participated actively in this... Special thanks go to Parul... who kept this thread alive with the ever new meanings...

So let us continue with MAGIC

Magic ---------> Wonder
manoj.bharti
You are welcome, Parul.

Thanks for the participation, Preety... but please come to the last page to avoid breaking the series.

Continuing further... :)

Marvel --------------> Miracle
manoj.bharti
Is "start" acceptable here? I doubt. Should I go for some other word?
manoj.bharti
Point is well taken, Ma'am. Agreed with the logic. :) However, I felt it somehow cannot be substituted with that word, that's why I have a doubt. Let us continue...

Astonish ➡ Daze
manoj.bharti
I think... Mystery is acceptable.

Mystery ----------> concealment
manoj.bharti
Hey Sumit, the meaning of the last word has to be submitted... Please don't break the series... The last word is 'Inarticulate'.
manoj.bharti
Run... Be careful here. Avoid being rude. Remember, the last word is "Avoid."

Finish: Over
Hi Parul,

There are two more words that came after 'finish' which you may not have noticed. Now, go with the word 'close' as the last word.
sanny.P
Dear Manoj,

This is your creative idea, and it is really good. With this, we can enhance our vocabulary skills. It's a really nice idea, Manoj.

Fascinate - charm

Regards,
Sanny
manoj.bharti
Thanks, Sanny... Thanks for the appreciation.

But to participate, you need to reach the last page and continue with the last word to keep the series going in order to learn effectively.

The last word posted by Chitra is 'Combine,' so now we have to continue with it:

Combine ------------> Together

I did not like Piya's cruel behavior. However, I can use the term "merciless" to describe it as well, as it is synonymous with "cruel." :)
pune_sonali
Hello,

Really, it's a wonderful idea.

I am also trying to increase my vocabulary in another way. Daily, I am reading one passage and then I identify some words to learn their meanings.

Now, I will also try your idea.

Hi Parul,

I think the word Schavva wrote is "ostentation." He might have written it like this: "and ostentation," that got converted like that. I think that is the right word.

Ostentation means flamboyance.
manoj.bharti
Friends, just see how pride bears a resemblance to arrogance sometimes. Arrogance can lead to supreciliousness.
manoj.bharti
Dear Sumeet,

Please post the meaning of the last word only. :icon1:

Parul, let's go ahead... :)

Drip ➡ Leak
