Understanding PF Codes: Do Companies Need Separate Codes for Each Branch?

ramcosystems
Hi all,

My query is this: Company X is headquartered in Mumbai and has the Establishment Code No. obtained for the same location. However, it has various branches in other states. Does this company need to obtain multiple establishment code numbers for each of its branches/work locations? Or will every company have only one code number?

Kindly verify. Thanks for your time.

Dear Ram,

If you have more than 20 employees in every location, you will have to obtain a PF code for every location (state-wise).

Dear,

I do not agree with the suggestion of Mr. Shashank. You need not take a separate code for all branches; it is a central act, and you can operate with one code only. However, you can take a separate subcode, but for maintaining records, it will be impractical. So, operate with one code only; legally, no problem.

Thanks,

Suggestion of Mr. Malik is correct. You can operate with one code and no need to take a separate code for each branch.

You can operate with the same code; however, in some states, they may ask you to open a subcode under the main code. In this case, you would need to open the code, and all your monthly remittance returns need to be done separately.

Hello,

As per my experience, the PF code has been maintained separately for the division where I work, and the other sister concerns of my group are also maintaining their own PF code. The group has different divisions, but each division is maintaining its own code. You can also contact your regional provident fund office.

Thank you.

Mr. Malik is right. You need not take various codes. One for the HO is enough for all operations all over India.

Hi all,

As others have mentioned, we can operate with one code number and obtain subcodes with the single PF employer number.

Hi, Dear,

Mr. Malik is right, and the majority of people agree with Mr. Malik's view. He is absolutely correct; there is no need to obtain a separate code for each state. PF is governed by a central act, and according to the law, a company can manage all its branches with a single code, obtained at the company's registered office location.

Hi Mr. Malik,

I agree that we also have our corporate and registered office in Mumbai, and we are maintaining a single code.

Hi,

We too have many offices/branches all over India and have only one PF code from Delhi (PF governed by the central government). However, we have a factory in Noida (UP) under a different name, so we have another code for that factory.

Any doubts?

Hi,

PF is centralized, there is no need to take the PF number again. You can continue with the same number.

Shyam
