Is Voting Day a Paid Holiday? Seeking Government Guidelines and Circulars

Can anybody provide me with a notification/circular from the government regarding a holiday on the day of voting? What are the general guidelines/practices regarding a paid holiday on the day of voting?

There is a practice in some organizations where, instead of giving a holiday, employees are allowed 2 to 3 hours for the purpose of voting. Could you please clarify whether it is acceptable or necessary to declare a holiday?

Read the FULL Notification, Prasad. The last lines answer your query. Shifts, etc., are exempted, with some sort of arrangement to vote AS WELL AS to work.
