HR Presentation Skills

NehaG
Dear All,
I have observed that the presentations given by the HR staff are not as impressive as the ones given by the marketing team members. Of course the fact that this is the primary skill needed for their job counts, as they have to impress and convince the customers.
But the HR staff too needs to convince their customers i. e. the employees.
So, do organizations treat both department members equally when it comes to training them in this aspect?
Please put forth your suggestions on the same.

Hi Neha,
I believe your observation is something different. Infact I think HR Presentation is more difficult as compared to Sales.
How : When you give presentation to the external customer, they ignore some points, but when you give presentation to the Internal customer (staff) they notice and give your feedback on the spot. This feedback will show your real skills you will rectify immediately.
Yes I say, organisation treat both the department members equally.
Thanks,

Hi Neha,
You are right to some extent..But what i personally feel is ..Everything depends upon how good skills does the presenter have..Giving Presentation is again an art.If one is also very good at soft skills things become more easier for him irrespective of which strem he belongs too.

The sucess or Good Presentation depends on the following :
a. knowledge about the subject.
b. Language
c. confidence of facing the audience.
d. creative thinking and creativity in the presentation made.
Thus if the person is master in the above parameters, irrespective of any person can give good presentation.

Hi
Iam Nithya , Recruitment Executive...
According to me , I say Yes , the HR & Marketing department need to be trained to convince people. Hr is involed with people in work and marketing is involved with people outside the organisation , both are people handling , AN HR guy & Marketing Guy must surely know the psychology of the prople , this may come through experience and some leaning also

As is pointed out by the other members, individual presentation skills matter a lot. However, regarding treating HR and Marketing proffessionals equally, it depends on the following:
1. The organisation's maturity in treating both departments equally
2. The individual HR person's capability to convince the organisation / Management that HR is happening / alive - on par with the active marketing department and is not docile

HI
I feel Marketing guys are more qualified, trained to present, and to convince the external clients well, whereas the HR guys are looking at the internal employees and accross levels, so both are different, and to the companies the marketing guys are most wanted than the HR / adminstrative guys.
Any case please forward the presentation, we can look at it.

Hi Neha,
I think that an HR person should have the necessary presentation skills. It is as important as for the Markting Manager.
We sell the image and walk the talk if we r not the best how can we attract and retain the best.
So I think if u wannato be an HR professional u should follow courses on presetation skills and communicaton. Well there is no hard and fas rule for good presentation but I think the major component is to remain natural and present things in a way that u will be comfortable and never try to imitate others.

This is so because we repeat the same HR policy of the company every time without any alterations and changes. Repeatition becomes little boring and not of much ineterst. But you can observe certain issues in the presentation are very volatile which sometimes creates huge indifferences among the group.
How we make the presentation is also important like language, punch lines, humurous, energy, voice modulation etc. These things also create much impact on the audience.
